I still think it's unrealistic to think we won't win any OOC games. In fact, I don't think it's outlandish to think we will win all four.

Tech - First game of the season, new coaching staff, plus Tech isn't that good anyway. This is definitely our best chance at an OOC win and with the game at Ford I think it is likely.

Baylor - Yes, they obviously showed last season they have a good size and speed advantage on us, but they will be on their third QB in three seasons, our team knows what to expect and will be able to scheme for the speed better (Mason), and with the game at Ford we have a shot.

A&M - This year was a flash in the pan year for them, and next year should be the year to get them becasue they will certainly be cocky. Obviously, winning at Kyle Field is a tall order, but don't forget we had them 0-0 well into the second quarter this year and that was before our offense turned into the dominant offense we saw later in the season. This is the kind of win that would put SMU on the map!

TCU - this one is always close. We won over there two years ago and had every chance in the world to beat them this year. It's also not unrealistic to expect the possiblity of some unrest in their team next season with the QB issues.

I think 1-3 is the most likely outcome (win over Tech), but 2-2 is very possible with TCU being a toss up and it's not ridiculous to consider SMU going 4-0 if things go our way.
This is the most simultaneously hilarious/sad post I've ever read on ponyfans

Just wait until the end of spring practice, some of these guys will have you believing that we'll win the national championship and that every one of our opponents is the worst team in FBS.

It's delusional is what it is. I love smu as much as the next guy, but to say we could go 4-0 against teams who we cant even stay on the field with (aside from tcu) is just silly. Lets try to play a non-humiliating game against a&m, Baylor or tech and then maybe we can talk about somehow beating ONE of them.

Tech has to replace 8 offensive starters and their entire defensive backfield. They have a new coaching staff and a new offensive & defensive scheme. They had a poor recruiting class. They will be picked to finish dead last in the Big 12. If you don't beat Tech next year, you may never.

yep; and we were excited last year because we were catching A$M with a new coaching staff, new schemes and a FR QB

Lightening doesn't strike twice... I'm not saying it's a good argument but it's the best I have!

Does anyone have the current football schedule for the fall on the Big East Conference SMU games?
I had the one that came out when Boise State & San Diego State were assumed to be in the
conference but have not seen a revised schedule. I also still have the 4 Big Twelve games

Adding to this: http://www.smumustangs.com/sports/m-foo ... 13aab.html
Opponents for SMU's inaugural BIG EAST season have been finalized, and 2013 visitors to Ford Stadium will include UCF, UConn, Rutgers and Temple. The Mustangs will travel to Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis and USF.
Thus, our home schedule is, in no particular order:
Tech, Baylor, UCF, UConn, Rutgers, Temple

All the home games are winnable? Idk...I will be amazed if we win more than 4 games next season.

Two recruiting classes before this one (this means players who will actually be on the field):

2011:
TECH - #20
SMU - #50

2012:
TECH - #26
SMU - #89

I don't think their poor recruiting class from 2013 will prevent them from beating us by 30+ pts.

Winnable yes, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that we win them. As many have pointed out on the basketball forum, pretty much all of the CUSA games were winnable. Had we won them all, we would likely be headed for the NCAA tournament. As it stands, we are merely hoping to finish the season above .500. Our fans are such losers that as soon as someone says something positive about our team most of our fans get very upset.

SHHH... stop spoiling everyone's fun. We are going to crash the BCS this year and will be forced to choose between invites from the SEC, PAC and Big 12. We will decide to go indy and will get our own network that is bigger than ESPN.

He main point was saying we won't go 0-4. I am as pessimistic as the next guy, but we do have a chance to win 1 or more of those; though with JJs lack of urgency for our OOC I wouldn't put money on it.

When was our last OOC home opening win over a FBS team? I can't remember one in the JJ era. He hasn't gotten SMU prepared early. I agree we have our best shots at Tech and Baylor, but...
