Fixing the on-field product and playing relevant opponents is the only way to accomplish any of those things. Selling beer at Ford isn't going to make any more fans want to suffer through boring football.
Beer has made a lot of boring events more interesting, e.g. weddings, funerals, child birth, evening news, college/school generally. With that being said I have never attended a boring SMU game and stand by my statement that beer would attract people to come earlier, more frequently and stay later. Go 'Stangs!

Yep, your students win for four years. Then when they work for us we win for the next 40.

 Not gonna happen, sir. Move along.
Bergermeister, why do you think it won"t happen? Because of the church school thing, politics, etc? Just curious.

It was a definite no go until two years ago the City of UP elected to allow retail sales of beer and wine. So that hurdle is gone.

Yes I recall that even when I was in school the 7-11 on Hillcrest(Job opportunity for UH students btw) was selling some 4 Loco and beer.

Two close wins over us in Basketball do not qualify as "manhandling in various sports" when your football team gives up 72 points and loses by 30.

And you may have the edge in recruiting football, but take one look at our basketball bench and you'll count yourself lucky having beaten us twice this year. It might be a long time before you do so again.

Outdrawn.....well, even I know when I'm beaten :)

Never measured it, but TABC requires a 300 foot distance between churches (and schools) from establishments selling alcohol. It's measured front door to front door so I think we're okay.

In regards to craft beers, I'm a huge fan of the local scene. Been to many of the brewery openings ( Four Corners is my local favorite) and when I'm eating out I always ask restaurants in the area for local beers to try and stoke demand. However, if we were are to start selling beer, we would, and we should, go for the money grab by signing an exclusive with one of the big breweries and/or distributors.

That doesn't mean we wouldn't be able to maybe get one of the locals to be offered, but don't expect to walk in and choose between brews from Deep Ellum, Peticolas, Lakewood, Four Corners, etc.

As another poster mentioned, if you want to drink at a game it's easy. I sneak in beer bottles or liquor all the time. I advocate for this strictly as a money grab for athletics. This might be worth almost a million dollars a year when you factor in actual sales and marketing agreements.

It would certainly be best to strike up a deal with a local brewer, but it sure seems like every time you drive down Yale you see a Boulevard Brewing truck delivering to the bars/restaurants.

Talk about the perfect match for distribution to The Corral and Ford.

Built in free and hidden advertising for them too as well from all the references to "The Boulevard"...

Our neighbors to the South are considering...

DeLoss Dodds says Texas is considering selling alcohol at athletic events

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com ... ents.html/

With two Big 12 conference schools already selling alcohol at athletic events (West Virginia and Iowa State), Texas men’s athletics director DeLoss Dodds hinted the Longhorns could become the third in an interview with The Daily Texan.

"We talk about it constantly," Dodds said. "If we ever did it, we’d probably start with baseball. There’s something about it that doesn’t quite feel right, but there’s people telling me that it might be safer to serve it than not serve it. It’s an issue. I guarantee you we talk about it at almost every other staff meeting."

According to the article, only three on-campus locales have alcohol permits, one being the University of Texas Club in the football stadium.

According to google maps the unofficial measurement between Bishop and Ownby is a little under 400 ft.

I think the south endzone would be a great place to put the corral at, and possibly make it into sort of a terraced party deck kind of like at Cowboy Stadium? I think I saw where someone had posted a similar idea...
