Tech ducked em but pretty sure BU didn't.

Comparing apples to apples, when TCU was coming back from the dead:
99: Ariz, NW, Ark St (1-2) 8-4
00: NW, Ark St, Navy (3-0) 10-2
01: SMU, Neb, North Texas, NW St (2-2) 6-6
02: NW, SMU, North Texas (3-0) 10-2
03: Vandy, Arizona, Navy, SMU (4-0) 11-2
04: NW, SMU, TT (2-1) 5-6
05: OU, SMU, Army (2-1) 11-1
06: Baylot, TT, UC Davis, Army (4-0) 11-2
07: Baylor, Texas, SMU, Stanford. (3-1) 8 -5
So, in year 9 of the turnaround, they had 3 strong non-conference games scheduled. They had us and another weak team scheduled non-conference every single year before that.
The way you raise your profile around the country is to win 8-10 games consistently, regardless of who you play. It is incredibly difficult to get there if you lose two non-conference games. Once you win, then people start caring about who you beat. But you have to win first. If you have to play the sisters of the poor 4 times non-conference in order to have a 10 win season, then that is what you do until you win 10 consistently. Then you up the level of competition. You don't get there by scheduling 4 BCS programs non-conference. Not even TCU does that.

So do we know for a fact that SMU made the decision or is it possible that Baylor dropped SMU and thus it is a similar situation to what tcu dealt with? Not saying Baylor is ducking SMU, but if they dropped SMU then we are as blameless in the situation as tcu when they had to schedule those teams you excused them for.
Still waiting to hear whose decision it was.

Not to minimize your point, because I agree to a point but TCU should've scheduled a weak OOC opponent instead of the mighty Mustangs in '05. Could've finished undefeated and went to a BCS game.

I have not seen Baylor's schedule but maybe they are trying to add another home game for 2013, at least I hope that is the case.

Buffalo
ULM
WVU
Texas
OU
ISU
That's our 2013 home slate.

No councelor, I don't follow it as close as you, I openly admit that. Just like I don't follow which 17 year-old girls decide to go to SMU as close as you.
Chill out, dude, nobody insulted your family. I'll assume your right and I'm wrong on that subject.
But whatever, this strategy worked for Bill Snyder - play patsies in non-con games - maybe that's JJ's plan. But yeah, I'd like to see us play Baylor a lot more, too.
EDIT: Buffalo and ULM ain't Notre Dame and Bama, though.

This is chicken [deleted] in my opinion. Beating Montana State does nothing for our program. If we want respect we've gotta go out and earn it by beating teams people have actually heard of. Pony down

Step one win ten games. Step two win ten games against good opponents. It really is that simple. I can guarantee you that we tried to get out of a&m, and didn't because of the money, and then dumped Baylor because they will be better than tech next year.
I don't care who we beat. I want to see us win 8 to 10 games and then I will worry about the quality of opponent. Until we can beat Tulane and rice every year we shouldn't be complaining about the quality of the schedule.

We're never going to win 10 games as long as June keeps sending the message that we can't compete with Baylor.

I was told that the decision was mutual per a member of the BU coaching staff.

You're a sad excuse for a fan and one of the biggest examples of the loser mentality I've come across in a while.
