second tier fans for a second tier program that pisses down its leg to play Baylor at home after 4 straight bowl games and is only playing the 5th toughest schedule in Texas. We played tougher schedules in almost every single year before 1998.

Normally we are on opposite ends of the argument but couldn't agree more. With JJ in his 5th year he should have a team to compete and win at least 2-2 (original schedule) and be top 1 or 2 team in the conference. The fact we are terrify of our own shadow and so worried no going to a bowl game(like they really matter except BCS based bowls). If they were going to drop a game, at least make it the aggie game since I don't think we have a shot in hell. Tcu tech and Baylor I feel we could be competitive and win a few. Oh well the culture here is Hawaii bowl is the BCS bowl.

I agree. There is no way I will ever drive to Dallas to watch an FCS team. Please exclude that game from season tickets.

Just support your school and quit whining. Many Universities play one FCS school and that is a financial benefit for the FCS school, and generally a win for the FBS school. Move on, we have a adequately tough OOC. It's time to step up and come out 2-2 or 3-1 in those games.

We are still trying to get out of the ATM game but it does not look likely at this time. We had to get out of the Baylor game as there was no benefit to the team to having 4 OOC games against BCS conference teams. We all, including JJ wish we had broken out as a top team by now but we haven't. I fully believe that the best interests of the kids is being served here, and the last thing they need to pander to is a whiny and delusional fan base.

There is nothing delusional about wanting to play your natural and traditional rivals. Especially when they were already on the schedule and suddenly get replaced by a no-name FCS team that no one cares about. SMU is pushing to get into a Power conference and yet we manage to get a solid schedule and then decide we really do like being in the minor leagues. SMU should play TCU, Baylor, and Rice every year.

I believe TCU and Baylor are on our schedule for several years into the future along with North Texas.

We tried to drop TAMU first, but as I think has already been addressed, they would't let us out due to some issues on their side. Baylor is a traditional rival, is an easy road trip and a more easily winnable game IMHO. But dropping TAMU wasn't an option, Baylor was.

No reason to play Rice in football anymore, they don't bring anyone to Ford and we don't take anyone down there.

And they're too tough, when we can schedule Southern Nazarene instead.

I would like to see their mascot. Bet it would be like the second coming.

Thing is, if BU had never been on the schedule this year and our OOC was Tech at home, Mont State, TCU, and A&M, no one would be complaining.

Agreed. It is not the schedule, it is the way we got to the schedule that I have the issue with.

THIS!! ^^
ESPN/ABC is Disney though. Maybe a better chance to buy CBS or NBC.

Whats the big deal? We're still playing three BigXII/SEC opponents and we'll still open up Baylor's new stadium next year which will be pretty cool. Again, go back and look at TCU's OOC schedule back when they were building their program 5-10 years ago.
