A12 sounds like a weapon system.

A simple one or two word version that ESPN spin that avoids location or a number, which will evolve over time and is a bit distinctive: University League, Great America, Heart of America, etc.

Great American Conference isn't terrible. I still like Metro Conference, could call it "The Met" for short.

FWIW EastCoast there is currently an east coast based conference with "Metro" in the name (MAAC - Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference)... Seeing how many of the people on here have a problem with A-12 conflicting or sounding like the A-10 (Atlantic 10) I think would result in the same response given the existence of the MAAC...

I like reviving Metro or going with Continental Conference.

In the spirit of contributing, and not criticizing, and having a little fun with this to lighten the mood, here are some other possibilities for the new conference name:

We are NOT the old Conference USA Conference

The Reformation Conference (because of the Catholic schools leaving; no hate to the Catholics)

CenTX...I'm aware of the MAAC, but people have actually heard of the A-10, hence the possibility for confusion. The only time anyone ever acknowledges the MAACs existence each year is the one night when they have their conference championship game on ESPN2 or whatever

I agree, haha I just feel many of us would get more bent out of shape for getting confused with the MAAC rather than the A-10.
