I don't know, 20 years of results...
Put down the bottle. Was hiring June Jones and reversing a decades long trend of utter ineptitude not right? Were four bowl games in a row right? How about building Ford Stadium and Crum, renovating Moody, hiring Larry Brown? How do you like the Boulevard? The list goes on and on, and to suggest otherwise is stupid.
Everything you describe is at best mediocrity except for hiring Larry Brown and staff and the boulevard. Crum counts. Moody will count when done.

Congrats. We have been partially competent for 1/20th of the time period in question.

If the best we can do in 20 years of football is back in to very weak bowls barely above .500 in an extremely weak conference that is NOT doing it right across that period.

We are slowly improving but to imply we have accomplished anything is silly. We have done nothing yet. Larry Brown will fix that soon.

There was some major movement in terms of athletics this past week. President Turner even asked to address the Board of the Mustang Club. We are reinstating some majors (fall of '14) that these kids can succeed in if the go to class and we are adding some classes in English and Math that can assist bringing the kids that come to us unprepared from their high schools. This is terribly important in both football and basketball recruiting. It was also something promised several years ago.

It has indeed affected our ability to recruit. First, other schools recruit against us saying we don't care about seeing their sons graduate and we don't provide a course of study they can succeed in after college and football; secondly, it has affected our coaches--in the past they simply have shied away from recruiting kids that simply met the NCAA standards but they knew couldn't succeed at SMU. No question that those supporters of June Jones and Larry Brown came together to make this happen.

The course of study is very exciting and we have a world class hire that will be announced shortly that will lead this program. Additionally it is a program that can help all our athletes succeed in their individual sports. It also involves a capital investment to fund the facility.

I would like to thank our alumns for the pressure and the capital to get this done.

I think you all (and I mean all of you) will truly be excited and it will make a big difference in the success of our current coaches and help us in the hiring of new coaches, when and if that time comes in the future.

No question we can improve the spring game, but like all things at SMU, the concept of a spring festival centering on the football game is a great idea, but slow in gaining momentum.

Mex, good post. I heard the same thing in detail yesterday, although it came from a different source (lettermen). Glad we now have 2 different sources saying the same thing. Of course, I was reminded that we have heard promises from the top before that have yet to materialize. My source believes that this time things will happen as there has been a change of attitude in several power players who will write checks - and will demand to see progress on through to completion. We can only hope, with fingers crossed.

If this was 1998 or even 2008, great news. For 2013? It's a great start. Better late than never.

It was fun and colorful and I could tell the recruits were impressed. Perfect day. GG was on target all day IMO...he was sharp and the kids ( for the most part) were catching all thrown their way.

Any details would be great. My wife had a mud run this morning, so I was stuck at home with the kids (one is sick, so we couldn't go).

Because this was an open event, I would be interested to hear if there were changes in the offense or defense that you guys could see. Anyone stand out on oline or dline?

Thanks!

Did they go 11-11 with pass rush or was it more like flag football?
