A bunch? Really? I saw a couple of this board say they're ok with dropping Baylor (which is of course wrong). But a bunch? I sometimes wonder whether you don't build up these straw men just so you can burn them down.Stallion wrote:... a bunch of SMU fans would rather play Texas State before 18,000 than "lose" to Texas before a full house and risk Petunia Bowl eligibility

I'm ok dropping Baylor. The reason is: we've shown we can't compete with legit programs besides tcu. Not win, but just compete. Not keep it close for a quarter, but avoid losing by 35+.
What's the point of getting our doors blown off by all 4 teams?

So...who all heard the talking heads on College Gameday live talk about UH, SMU, Cincy and Tulsa being ond eck as the next candidates the Big 12 is looking at now?
I think ESPN is going to force the Big 12 to expand so they can make more money and have a CCG they can even more money off of and improve the Big 12's stock in the playoff.

I like Tulsa fine, but i dont know what they would bring to the Big 12. No market, and a small school.

If the ESPN talking heads are talking about this stuff, there might be a bit o fire beneath that smoke. Still, I would have to see it to believe it.Cougar King wrote:So...who all heard the talking heads on College Gameday live talk about UH, SMU, Cincy and Tulsa being ond eck as the next candidates the Big 12 is looking at now?

The only Texas school that makes any sense is UH to get back in the Houston market with A&M gone

Them mentioning us or Tulsa as candidates is laughable. The Big 12 already owns DFW and Oklahoma. The Big 12 won't be expanding until the GOR is up. Going to 12 has more cons than pros which is why they're vehemently against expansion.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Well, it was Mark May, so don't take it too seriously. But yes, he rambled on about SMU, UH, Cincy & Tulsa being candidates. He didn't mention Florida schools and said the Big 12 needed to double down on the whole regional thing.

Budget wise they blow away the available options for the aac and they are successful.gostangs wrote:I like Tulsa fine, but i dont know what they would bring to the Big 12. No market, and a small school.
UMass is fools gold and USM has 75% the football expenditure of tu, marginally better attendance, and subsidizes most of their paltry budget with no real reason to expect their donors to step up more.
