As much as it pains me to return this thread to its original subject, and at the risk of the dreaded black horseshoe and banishment to a weekend in Waco...
Welcome to SMU and future success to you, Mr. Ingram.

I'm not saying he isn't a good recruiter. He obviously is an excellent recruiter. He just wasn't that good for us and he leveraged his "recruits" for a better job. That wasn't in SMU's best interests. It was in his best interests. I hold that against him. Feel free to hold that against me (said the actress to the bishop)

But, for those who say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what you could never question if you had a clue as to what was going on day by day is that NO one on this staff worked as hard and long at the job as Klemm. Simply and unequivocally a fact.
Absolutely true. Except Klemm's job seems to have been furthering Klemm's career and not furthering our team. I take my hat off to him for his success. But SMU did not benefit greatly from his being here. UCLA is benefiting greatly.

Now we can read minds. Didn't Jones use SMU as leverage for a so called better job at ASU?

I'm afraid I might need a diagram of that parallel....
The ASU debacle is a huge black mark on JJ and he should be ashamed of it. So if, as you suggest, Klemm's behavior was no different, then he should be ashamed of it too.
The people who think I'm "June til I die" crack me up.

Since I can't read minds I don't know if Klemm was using SMU as leverage but I can read actions in that the ASU mess was clearly an action of leverage by JJ. Look let's just hope SMU can beat a Tech team that does not have the talent they have had in the past.

I don't think anyone questions his
ability. He absolutely has the ability to be one of the best in the business when he starts recruiting to fill needs rather than to write headlines.
The point some can't on this board can't seem to wrap their heads around is the fact that Klemm, while a cool guy, is not worthy of deification. His contribution to the team (2-3 starters) is about average (approx. 24 starters divided by 10 coaches = 2.4 starters each if everyone is doing their job). That's not backstabbing him; it's just a fact.
Yes, the brain trust at Scout.com (Laken Litman, who did such a notable job covering the Mustangs that she got promoted to cover Alabama of all things...) named him Recruiter of the Year, but that was based on their own headlines at the time. For example:
Moreland: academically ineligible, no longer playing
Marks: couldn't get past SMU admissions (49 receptions for 560 yds, 2 TDS for WA St. last season)
Palacio: couldn't get past SMU admissions (8 tackles, 1/2 a sack, forced 2 fumbles for WA St. last season)
Lewis: SMU stopped recruiting when he showed up at the Hilltop at 5'8 and under 140 lbs. (according to the WA St. roster he's now up to 5'9 and 155 lbs., hasn't played yet)
Khalil Pettway left WA St. for personal reasons
As far as I can tell, the only bonafide loss from the ASU fiasco was the potential train wreck known as Eddie Printz. And as you may recall, UCLA ended up dropping his offer.
Welcome to the Hilltop Jordan! Sorry this welcome thread got derailed by old dirty laundry. Beat Tech!

Marks and Palacio decommitted after Klemm left for UCLA. Until you can show written proof or some written article of them not making it into SMU I am calling you a flat out liar. If you can I will gladly apologize. Until then you are a two faced liar.

The fact that you think Klemm "left" for a job at UCLA entertains me.

Why don't you ask around and get your facts straight before you call me out next time?
However, to your point, I don't think I can prove anything about Marks and Palacio (or Moreland, Lewis or Pettway either). And you will never see anything written any any responsible news media because doing so would violate their privacy rights as student-athletes. But there is a reason that all those kids ended up at WA St. In at least one case, it had to do with friendship. But it general, it (maybe I should say "allegedly"

) it had to do with the fact that the Pirate needed to come up with some recruits at the 11th hour and that WA St. was willing to admit them.

Allegedly would be a better statement which would imply your source could be incorrect. Also, if your source be it coach or someone close to the program was not happy with Klemm they could easily plant info with people like you who sponsor board like this to make Klemm look bad and make the current coaching staff look good. I understand also you don't like Klemm because he spoke with the recruiting sites and you sponsor this site. So there could be motive behind the slander. I still say you and/or your source are just on a slander campaign and I am sick of it especially when it has to do with 2 kids that passed the NCAA clearhouse. What do you have to say about Frazier? He was admitted to SMU but he has not passed cleared the NCAA clearinghouse yet. Want to slander him or the coach that recruited as well? SMU has even signed kids that were not eligible nor had passed the clearinghouse like Skyline's Roderick Moore who signed with SMU. Are you going to slander him or the coach that recruited him too?

I hate to break it to some of you, but 99% of coaches that will ever be at smu will be using their job and any success they have here as leverage for their next upward move. Smu is a stepping stone job, not a destination. Secondly, Klemm was forced out more than he was trying to bail on us, unlike other coaching staff members.

If you cannot show written proof of that claim then some here will call you a flat out two faced liar. Of course, if you ask them for written proof to back up their claim that you are a flat out two faced liar then I doubt they will be able to produce it, so you might just have to agree to disagree.

Not the two faced part. That comes when you buddy up with someone and then talk about them like a dog when they are not around. As far as the liar part is concerned all 2007 has to do is preface his comment with alleged. It's all good 2007.
