June Jones is the reason we have not had a 4 year QB! He is the one choosing who plays and he has made the decision to change frequently.
Justin Willis - changed position
Bo Levi - benched
Padron - benched
McDermott - transfer (not 4 years of eligibility)
Gilbert - transfer (not 4 years of eligibility)
Looking forward to seeing what Burcham can do next year. I think he could be special with JaBryce and Gaines catching passes

Then I attended some packed stadiums where I was crammed into bleacher seats with drunks and small kids basically arm in arm with me. Ford is so nice because a fan can actually walk around and sit pretty much wherever you want and even can lay down and take a nap on the empty rows during tv timeouts, halftime and official reviews.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Mack has been in control of the program that makes the most money of any in the country, the flagship university for a state that has arguably the best recruiting grounds of any in the country, and is the undeniable political and economic kind of their conference - There is NO reason they should be consistently losing to Baylor and KSU and having problems beating ISU. I HATE how unrealistic college football fans can be, and yet even I acknowledge that UT, with the occasional down season, should be the most dominant team in the Big XII and a consistent national title contender. There has been a strong and obvious downward trend the past three years. I'm sorry, but Mack CLEARLY hasn't gotten it done lately.
JJ has a pretty little stadium, good location, and nice budget - when you compare it to our CUSA competition. Up until recently JJ has done nothing but improve our position, and we've only level out since then.
JJ has done his job thus far. Mack hasn't as of late. Not the same.

I agree. I was not absolving JJ of his role in that.

But you were using the example that he hasn't had a QB for four years as reason for more time but here you're saying he does deserve some blame for that. Which is it? You can't have it both ways

He stole that from SimCity.

And on another note, does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to build an indoor practice facility? How much would it cost to relocate the soccer complex? The new coach will want an IPF. Sorry, if there is already a thread about this.

Didn't TCU's cost like $7M or something?

Syracuse is about to build an 87,000 square foot one at a cost of $17 million. Clemson opened one in January at a cost of $10 million for 80,000 square feet.
Here's a look at the cost of the football FACILITIES, not necessarily IPF's, of the ACC

I actually like Ford and the look of it. I’m a small stadium fan … 35-40K is just about right. You are close to the field, not really a bad seat. I do wish they had stadium seating though, and not just aluminum benches with backs. That would also give the interior a more updated look. It has the potential to be expanded and upgraded. Right now, I would rather see money spent on the IPF then Ford. I think that is a recruiting tool for both the kids and a future HC … when/if. I disagree with the poll … no way UCF’s tin can is nicer than Ford … or that albatross known as the Liberty Bowl … esp. with only 18K fans in attendance. Now if it was full, maybe.
If SMU had the history and results of UT over the last 10-15 years … location, facilities, conference, number of top 5 recruiting classes, money etc etc … and the programs has now slipped like UT has the last 3-4 years, I would expect JJ to be canned yesterday. We don’t, and it did not … not the same comparison IMO. Or, using USC, Auburn and few other powerhouses as an example for the same reasons. This is not a pro JJ statement; I just don’t think it’s an equal comparison.

I said that because we do not have someone lined up that is better than him. Hal Mumme? Didn't think so...

Wow...after reading everthing here...just wow. So if you talk good about our coach, you become a pariah. I should've known...welcome to SMU folks! Some things never change...

Lining up someone is the reason coaching searches exist.

Yeah but it goes to show how ungrateful our school is. Now that our schools is an 8-5 program these recent years, we are mad because we aren't in the Big 12, we are mad because the stadium doesn't fill.
It took TCU more than 15 years to get into the Big 12. It took them until 2012 (when they opened their stadium and were in the big 12) to sell out their stadium. It takes patience. I think June Jones has done a lot for our program. However, I do not think he is the coach that will take us to 12-0 and into BCS bowls. For that we are going to have to get someone Expen$$$ive and we will have to throw down at least $5 million for a name like Kirby Smart or Baylor's Offensive Coordinator.
