This. Let's stop b$tching about our students...that's only a small fraction of our attendance problem and probably the most difficult to change. We need Dallasites!
True, they aren't a large numbers. But current students and alums make up the folks the most invested in SMU. If those closest to the school aren't attending games at decent percentage, how can you expect those with no attachment to the school to buy in?
We have 40K DFW alumni...so 15K isn't shabby, percentage-wise...I think the effort required to increase it to 20-25K is exponentially more than it would take to get 10K additional Dallasites, with proper marketing.

The 15K isn't all local alums. Take out multiple tickets, out of area alums, sponsors, etc. and I'm sure it would be below 10K. That being said, increasing the attendance base to the 20-25K range by relying upon locals seems a tougher sell. Why would they be interested in buying tickets if the majority of local alums are not interested?
