I agree with stallion about the article but I will give him credit for expressing his opinion with his real name attached.

What a stereotypical SMU douuche...East Coast Mustang wrote: Also, the "a school who has an endowment valued less than my watch" line was about as [deleted] as it gets.

And agreed again. Reads like it was written by a middle schooler and really not very funny. For one, firing June in the middle of the season would be unbelievably idiotic. Additionally I think it is stupid to openly attack players in the student newspaper. Not saying all of his comments are false, just that this was a dumb article to publish in the daily campus.East Coast Mustang wrote:Well said '81. The author of that article is a poor representation of our student body. Not sure why so many on here are defending him and acting like the article is anything other than a trainwreck.
Maybe we'll get a football player response now...?

Re: Keeping up with the Jonses
I've yet to hear why it's stupid to fire JJ now... Other than its SYUPID said like 10 times...
Fire him now (assuming you have a replacement) and you can:
1) actually start recruiting
2) actually start coaching
3) give new coach experience since this is a burn season anyways
Not sure why we couldn't get JJ a one way ticket...

Re: Keeping up with the Jonses
Here is a reason. You have just limited yourself to a pool of out of work coaches. What coach is going to leave a school where he is now coaching to come to SMU? Even if you fired Jones now, which will not happen, you do not have a large enough candidate pool until the end of the season. You would finish the season with an interim and then work a hire based on research done.SMU_Alumni11 wrote:I've yet to hear why it's stupid to fire JJ now... Of course. Also those coaches whether Head Coaches or Assistants are under contract and no one can contact them without permission from their employer which would not be given

Then how did JJ get that ASU deal?Stallion wrote:Of course. Also those coaches whether Head Coaches or Assistants are under contract and no one can contact them without permission from their employer which would not be given
I mean if there is someone at the end of the season then fine but if there is an interim, an upcoming coach then can the lazy [deleted] and let's get someone who can get the kids prepared mentally

Re: Keeping up with the Jonses
we gave them permission-it wasn't during the season so its customary-may even be contractual with regard to buyout for some contracts. But to lose a coach during the season would screw the employer's season bad. Its pretty obvious isn't it-it NEVER ever happens. If it did happen the employer might even have a tortious interference with contract claim.

It was during the season wasn't it like week 7 or 8 cause I remember when we were bringing in 5 and 4* guys. Also our season is already dog ****. I wish we had the balls like USC and leave JJ in Memphis
