I remember the Bowling Alley-it was run by a guy named Nusse -don't know how I'm pulling that name. We used to bowl there at Hilltop Summer Sports Camp

Stallion, great memory. Nusse also was the beloved Perkins Natatorium custodian.

I believe the year was 1995 as my son was entering SMU that year. Yes, the natatorium and band hall was totally flooded out that spring. In fact, when school started in the fall they had just managed to get things dried out and back to normal. Part of the problem was drainage down the "vard", but the low elevation and water table close to the surface at the band hall caused the problem. Nothing could drain away and water buried the area.

Regarding the creek, the old LXA house on the corner across from the Sig Chi house had a unique odor. Everyone knew about it. A musty smell. Was always told it was because a creek had run through the land under the house.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The infamous stench. All that the old guys ever really said about that house.

That looks like a substantial building where the outdoor pool is now. I have seen it on other pics and it disappears not long after perkins gym is built. I wonder what it is.
I believe it is Old Gym. Here is the interior: http://digitalcollections.smu.edu/cdm/s ... /527/rec/4
Probably an early prototype of an IPF. 8)
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I know we used to tease the swimming competition in out state Missouri as "a bunch of river swimmers". However when I swam for Red, I didn't realize I was a creek paddler ! :)

Water Pony, I swam for Coach Barr his last year, 1970 - '71, and then for Coach Mac in '71-'72. The freshman class of '70 had Ray Ince and John Thorburn as our "water horses".
