Re: Cincy v Louisville
All a win against UCF will do is give June more leverage to force SMU to extend his contract.

Is there any recent history of a team that already has a BCS birth resting their 1st string guys? I know in the NFL its done all the time.

I'm not sure who's done it before...but I would rest up first string and not risk injuries going into the sugar bowl vs. ClemsoncoloradoStang wrote:Is there any recent history of a team that already has a BCS birth resting their 1st string guys? I know in the NFL its done all the time.

That's not how its done in College Football-ever. There is no playoff. UCF might have a shot at their first Top 10 finish in history. Now if they get a 28 point lead maybe

I am sure that is what you want to happen but I don't think it will. I hope June has to get a legit win.feelthehorsepower wrote:I'm not sure who's done it before...but I would rest up first string and not risk injuries going into the sugar bowl vs. ClemsoncoloradoStang wrote:Is there any recent history of a team that already has a BCS birth resting their 1st string guys? How much does the conference get for the BCS berth?

That doesn't happen for a couple of reasons:coloradoStang wrote:Is there any recent history of a team that already has a BCS birth resting their 1st string guys? I know in the NFL its done all the time.
1) There are 3-5 weeks between the last regular season game and BCS game, so who needs extra rest?
2) Why give your opponent a better shot at beating you? In the Pac-8/10, a number of times a team clinched a Rose Bowl berth before the last game of the regular season. But since the last game is usually against your hated rival, why make it easier for them?

Now that you mention rivalries...a rivalry between SMU/UCF and SMU/Cincy would be niceCA Mustang wrote:That doesn't happen for a couple of reasons:coloradoStang wrote:Is there any recent history of a team that already has a BCS birth resting their 1st string guys?
