They need to check their Nintendo measurables.
But in all seriousness, I think I am speaking on behalf of most student fans when I say that we do not want these figures representing our student body and our general fanhood. True fans don't need to dress up like complete fools in irrelevant outfits to support their team and the assertion that these individuals are somehow leading "the mob" is preposterous. Yes, they start chants on occasion, but no more than the rest of the student section, and as was previously asserted, if they were our "best fans" or even "true fans" they would be in attendance at almost all away games in costume regardless of their other commitments. My own father and numerous other people I know who don't go to SMU have commented regarding the lobster and other figures and wonder about their significance, and when I respond that there is none, their response is usually something along the lines of "oh, that's really weird." WHICH IT UNDOUBTEDLY IS. Wear an SMU jersey, an SMU shirt, a hat; support the team in a meaningful way, which doesn't leave the outside world thinking that SMU is a bunch of weirdos because we're not. Most of us are normal fans who will get after it and support our team, and guess what...actually make the trips to away games, still yell and scream just as much as the people in ridiculous costumes all the while not making our school look like a bunch of losers. Just my thoughts and rip me a new one for it, but I believe a lot more of the students feel this way than not.

honest opinion: unfortunately a certain group of individuals (I do have a couple friends in that group) that just so happens to no longer have letters on their house, became a majority of the greeks in the MOB. And they started wearing costumes. That group does not exactly receive a ton of love from other groups on campus (warranted or not its just how it is). So the costumes and everything else they do became automatically uncool. I wish that another group, who had more sway on campus had taken over the mob and then it would be the cool thing to do on campus and not what it is right now. But what happened, happened and thats why you hear a ton of greek guys (big part of the fanbase) not joining or sitting with the mob and talking crap about that section in paticular. It's typical smu bs but it is what it is.
The alumni love the school spirit and thats why everyone on here loves the costumes, but the students are hostile to some of it because of who the majority of the mob section is. (and some of those guys are my buddies but thats what I think happened)
Either way moody is not even on the same planet as the games last year. And every student can agree with that and loves most of our atmosphere costumes or not.
