Coach Mason often employs the three-man rush in third-down passing situations, ie,
let's give a Heisman-trophy candidate quarterback all night to find a receiver. Baylor will embarrass our defence with over 400 yards passing. And, on those rare occasions when we hold them on third down, we will probably be called for either roughing the passer or pass interference.
On offence, I cringe at the thought of how many illegal procedure penalties we'll take.
And don't forget some lame efforts to return kickoffs from five-yards deep in the end zone,
resulting in first-and-ten on our own eight-yard line. Or worse, if the kick returner makes it past
the 20, there will be a clipping or holding penalty that takes it back to our own five-yard line.
But I'll be watching; really hope I have it all wrong.
Most negative post I have seen. You get what you ask for. I don't get the fear you have for a team that lost to UCF, almost lost to TCU and got beaten by OK St.
And possibly the most accurate if recent performance is considered at all

Have you seen what Baylor has done to SMU since our last win over them in 1986 - don't remember ever even being competitive with them. What about the game in Waco two years ago? What about JJ's abysmal game one record? Or JJ's record against P5 teams since he's been at SMU? They almost lost to TCU last year while our team was blown out by TCU...........

Hopefully the rain slows Baylor down week 1 but it may get ugly.
I got you guys at 6-6 or 5-7. Good luck this year.

Pure speculation on my end, but I wouldn't be surprised in the nickel to see us either leverage the depth on the line by playing 4 down or rush the OLB (Sanders or Barnes) off the edge to essentially give us 4 down like the Cowboys did with Ware. I also wouldn't be surprised if Montes and HR start at corner but in nickel they either sub an OLB for JR and move Montes to slot or leverage the depth at safety to replace an LB with a safety.

Baylor 55 SMU 27
Season
5-7 again, and JJ rides off into sunset
Overall, we are more competitive than people expect and hang with some of the big dogs for 3+ quarters, but then the score explodes in the 4th when we tire from lack of depth. I see 3 of these type of games (Baylor, TAMU, TCU).
Bowl hopes will hinge on conference play and stealing one from UH, Cincy or UCF.

38-31 Baylor and a minimum 6 win season in a weak conference.
