And he expected us to be a BCS buster, remember. June was just a recruiting class and a half away from competing at the highest level.

Joe Jamail's loyalties are to his clients and Joe Jamail. Mostly Joe Jamail. He loves to be the center of attention. I wouldn't read much into anything he says.

BTW I believe that he has been Mack's attorney for many years now. He is not suddenly getting involved in Mack's career out of any sort of personal vendetta.

If he has been Mack's attorney for years and is not happy about Mack having to resign at UT then he would want to have Mack to have a comeback to show UT that they were wrong.

Charlie Strong is an improvement over Mack Brown at the end of his tenure at UT. Brown should stay retired. I say this as a graduate of SMU and UT. As for what the mustangs need, we offer enough money to hire a HC win a winning record from a Group of Five school, but probably not form a Power 5 school.

I am sure that he wants whatever he thinks is best for Mack. I just don't think that the posts indicating that Joe has any particular affinity to SMU as compared to anyone else who might offer more money or a better opportunity are a little naive. If Mack really wants to prove that UT shouldn't have fired him the best way to do so is to take over a program at a P 5 school that already has some talent on the roster. SMU looks like a longer term project than someone Mack's age would be interested in.

SMU would we waaaaay easier to turn around then say Kansas. All you have to do is ramp up recruiting and ease the schedule, and wala - you are a genius. I will only take two years with the right hire.

UT did go 9-4 during mack's final season...correct? It may have been time for Mack to go but I think there are a lot worse options.
