As long as he doesn't come back and sue us for not providing him an education as is the case with UNC, I agree.

What if it's not a basketball contract but a business job or med school?

Each case is different I guess. But since it is history and not the business school or med school I would think common sense would take over.

So I guess I should be upset that I cannot be a doctor because my degree was in business.

Re: MK-Out first 5 games
Im saying lets say a kid was accepted to a top rate med school, but is failing a history class. Should he be allowed to pass the history class because of his other earning potential?

Situations are apples and oranges. If he went to med school and failed a history class he would still be eligible to do other activities while in school. Is there a basketball major?

He's not failing a history class from what I understand. Just not at the minimum GPA requirements. Hope this sheds light on the issue.

Mrydel is stating the argument that his million dollar future should determine whether he should be allowed to pass a class. Where I think the actual argument he is making is that the fact he is a basketball player should allow him to be passed.

He is a basketball player that played a key role in putting SMU on the map helping the school get more money. Now that we don't need him as much do we turn our back on him and take a hardline stand in this situation is the true question.

So you say he deserves special treatment, thats fine if you feel that way. But lets not say its because he is low risk or his earning potential. Its because he can throw a ball in a hoop.

let's take bball out of it. What advisor thought that it would be in his best interest to take a History class for him? I think the situation of the individual should determine the grade, and yes if he happens to be a bball player or a regular student don't fail someone, just let them pass

So you devalue and mock his skillset by saying he can throw a ball in a hoop which can earn SMU millions of dollars?
