Greeting the team after they return equates to a ticker-tape parade in your mind? What, they should have been summarily dismissed and ignored as soon as the game ended? Such disdain is sad.

Win or lose, its always gratifying to be welcomed home. There were plenty of kids that didn't give up. Greenbauer, Wood, Joseph, Davis, Line, Pope and others.
The Seniors will have something to remember and the underclassmen have something to build upon.

Celebrating a 1-11 team? Please. This isn't elementary school.

Welcoming isn't celebrating. Too bad you can't tell the difference.

You guys want to be big time, and yet you can't find the time to support your team when they were abandoned by their coach and had to fight through the season. In the end, do you think they were happy going 1-11 this year? More to the point, do you think TCU fans would have shown up under similar circumstances? How about Baylor fans, or even a school like Cincinnati that may get a call up well before us?
The fact that SMU supporters feel that their team needs to be worthy of them rather than the other way around is just another reason we're struggling to hold the program together.

Yes, the ole' entitlement syndrome rears it's ugly head once again.

Of course you couldn't. You have a Napoleon complex and an agenda, which makes for one nasty helicopter dad.
This is a
DISCUSSION BOARD. People will discuss topics. We don't always agree, and it can often get personal, but at the end of the day
most are here to pull for SMU and make SMU better. Quite frankly, long after you've wiped your butt on SMU and moved on with your son, most will still be here pulling for SMU.

He agreed with what another poster said, and he was not the only poster to do that. Seems like this might be a slightly over the top response. Not sure you stuck the landing.

Wasn't going for a landing, was looking for him to pull the stick out. He does nothing but get in [deleted] matches on this board, and I seem to be the flavor of the month. We can disagree, it's ok.

Cox and a few others have issues with footballdad. It has effected their ability to have a normal conversation. This is really not a big deal - you either have empathy for the kids or you don't. If not - its not the end of the world.

Geez...why do you guys always have to be so pissy with each other? Its the holidays, for goodness sakes and SMU fans have a lot to be thankful for...how about giving nastiness a rest. And yes, I know what its like over on Raider Power and TexAgs, etc...but I think we can aspire to a higher standard...
Merry Christmas and Go Mustangs.

Cox & Friends don't really have issues with me, they have issues with themselves and the players for some reason. I am their convenient scapegoat because they get furious when I have the audacity to criticize their university. Other posters do it all the time, but since I also stick up for the players, their favorite punching bag, it makes them feel better to act like children and call me names. You can almost see Cox face turning red as he replies to my posts.
2 posts above really say it all about guys like Cox & Friends:
"The fact that SMU supporters feel that their team needs to be worthy of them rather than the other way around is just another reason we're struggling to hold the program together."
"Yes, the ole' entitlement syndrome rears its ugly head once again."
The fact that 3 or 4 SMU 'supporters' could go out of their way to trash a 'Welcome the Team Back' thread, shows the twisted arrogance of these guys. It was reassuring to see a greater number of SMU fans immediately came out against this, but I really wonder how many SMU students and alumni feel this way? Is it 10,20,30+% of that population or more? How much of the Blvd who refuse to walk a couple blocks to support their team feel this way?
I believe the hiring of Chad Morris is fantastic and I think he is going to turn this thing around quickly. These kids will respond accordingly and make their teammates and supporters proud.
Thanks to all of those who thought it was a good idea to welcome the team back in a very classy fashion. I can assure you the players and parents took notice and appreciated it very much. Happy Holidays PonyLove!
Let the Cox & Friends insults begin

Why don't we just drop it now. Agree we are happy with the win and the new staff. This issue is played out.
