This years Houston-SMU game seems to be setting the stage to have that TCU-Baylor feel of high scoring, close game, big smack talk rivalry. I like it. It's around the same date as that TCU Bay game was last year. Sucks [deleted] that it is on a Thursday but pony boss will be there.

ECM, you and I had similar predictions last year and again this year....maybe the football Gods will smile on us and we will at least be closer to our predictions.

Agree with this...4 wins would be a solid move in the right direction

We lost to UNT last year by ~40 points, yet everyone on here has that down as a win. While our crop of freshman is better than the seniors they replace, they are still freshman and will struggle.
I still think we will be much improved relative to last year but we were not competitive in most games. So improvement may just mean losing by 1-2 TDs
Shameless bump even though we weren't losing by 1-2 TDs. Our defense was worse than last year despite having a reasonable offense to help them. Malone is not the answer. Offense was much improved in general. No one should predict a bowl next year either.

Defense is the same, last year teams would put in their third string in the second quarter because each game was out of reach by then. Easily could have lost every game 100-0 last year

Who is the answer then?

Put me down for this in 2016 as well. Not disappointed by the performance this year. Things will start to get interesting in 2017. Do think they need to take a long, hard look at the D coordinator, though

I'll preface this by saying my previous years prediction of 3-4 wins (6 if some crazy stuff happened) but I was pretty close to being right (tulsa, jmu )
I disagree with 2-10. I think you'll be very surprised by the improvement this year. If the team makes the exact same amount of progress this off season then we can all expect 4 wins with a few near misses.
More than doubled ppg on offense in one year! Obviously there are diminishing returns but Matt will have plenty more to work with as far as starters and depth with the new class coming in and redshirt freshmen coming into the 2 deep. This should really help to cover up his deficiencies as a qb, though he should definitely get some outside coaching from a qb guru (maybe call june?) Don't forget that more of the playbook will be installed as well as Alex Honey and James proche being on the field.
I think the team will just look like a better version of this year: run the ball, throw to courtland, and keep defense off of the field but just with better results.
I agree that 2017 is the year but I do not find it agreeable that only 2 games will be won next year.

I think I will wait to see who signs in Feb and how we look in fall camp before predicting 2016

Fify. Going to have even more quality depth at wr next year and more quality depth at RB. A lot of recruits coming in on defense so there will be a learning curve there. Should be fun to watch next year.

With a 2016 home schedule of TCU, Liberty, Houston, Memphis, Navy & USF and road games vs Baylor, ECU, Temple, Tulsa & Tulane, my early early predictions for next year:
Losses : TCU, @Baylor, Houston, Navy, USF, Memphis, @ECU - (7)
Wins: @NTSU, Liberty, @Tulane - (3)
Uncertain: @Temple, @ Tulsa - (2)
Since we travel so well, Tulsa should be viewed as a home game, so I'll go all optimistic and say 4-8.
As for attendance, TCU will be the only game to crack the 22k mark.
What's more depressing is checking out our 2017 home schedule. Team should be decent. Crowds, not so much.

You could have decent crowds for UH and Navy.

There are tons of morons in this board that love to be right when SMU wins only 2 games and they call it "being realist". Lol
