9-0. 2-0 on current California road trip with 1 game to play before returning to Texas to play TCU.
Looking at the schedule, barring an upset, they should go undefeated the rest of the way.

Does Texas State still have the best team in Texas?

I think Texas State is tops, but oddly, Texas State and SMU don't play this season.

I met someone on their team last year who said we were thugs and did nothing but complain to the refs

Well if someone as smart as a Texas state LAX player said that, it must be true!

SMU cracks the top 25 in the MCLA Coaches Poll for week #4 (at #25). They have been creeping up the also received votes for the past couple of weeks.

Still lagging a little behind in LaxPowers' poll and comes in at #36

USC, The Claremont Colleges and the U of San Diego
The last couple of years SMU has been going west for their big trip. Would love to see them come back to Florida. A couple of other LSA teams are heading this way. We are also getting a bunch of the NE schools coming down. Would be great to get some crossover games with both the SELC and PCLL.

They haven't played state the last couple of years because it's an inevitable LSA championship game.
Very likely to see SMU 14-0 in the LSA championship vs D1 burn out U.

If there was a D1 program in Texas, would it even have to recruit Freshman? Seems it could just recruit all the Texas D1 transfers that decide they hate cold winters. I kid. I kid.

You'll never win with just Texas players. If you take the University of Denver strategy -- take the best of the state, then get players from all over the West (including Canada) then pull some East Coast kids. I think a lacrosse team in Texas could succeed, however you would have to cover the high travel costs until other local programs get established. SMU Soccer was much like that at the beginning. Stanford Women's Lacrosse did it as well for a number of years.

Rumor is UT SMU A&M and Baylor all do it together. Have heard that for awhile so no idea how real.

I believe in the 2015 lax thread I said exactly the same thing. My comment was more on the reference to Tx State as "D1 Burnout U"

I spoke to a D1 assistant coach a couple of years ago and he asked me if SMU was considering a D1 team. At the time, there was a lot of speculation on PF that SMU was considering it. He heard rumors from elsewhere. He said that was a job a lot of guys would line up for, because of the amount of great athletes you would have access to for rounding out your roster. It would be an easy sell to NE hotbeds to bring in high caliber players and you get first pick of athletes to fill role players. His feeling was that you could create a competitive team fairly quickly.
Side note: Had Bill Tierney (HC at Denver) as a Camp Coach in HS. Best teacher of the game I have ever been around. Now that he doesn't have Princeton's admission standards, Denver is going to be a power until he retires.
