But it would be great news if Hicks and Peavy can both compete for the QB position. In fact I would be ecstatic if Hicks became the answer if he has a big year this year.

I'd prefer to replace the QB in game one of every season. It worked for June.

the plan right now is for Charlie Brewer to enter at mid-term and compete during spring practice. So there should be some healthy competition in 2017. Remember Brewer played 16 games in 2015 including against the best 6A competition in Texas so he's going to be a "quick-study" and maybe make a run at the starters job like Buechele at UT. Playing powerhouse 6A teams like Westlake, Katy, Cibolo Steele and Judson will give him unusual big-game experience for a high school kid plus the spring practices

I think you will be impressed with Rafe Peavy. Do not sell him short.

This is music to my ears. So hopefully we will have a full stable of Rafe Peavy, Ben Hicks and Charlie Brewer competing for that starting job. Of course don't count Darrel colbert out either but 3 of those will most likely be the top competitors.

Mark, do you like the way Peavy throws it?

Would make sense to redshirt brewer if there are three viable options his true freshman year.

Colbert is a redshirt sophomore correct? If he were to stay buried on the qb depth chart behind Rafe, hicks and Brewer looming as a redshirt I think he would potentially be a candidate to explore grad transfer options. That's just a hunch, but it just seems like he could be that guy that looks for playing time elsewhere and would be nearing graduation already so it would make sense

Of course, the best scenario would be to redshirt Brewer because either Peavy or Hicks are solid to start so whoever ends up the backup will not be a drop down in performance.

I do. I like the whole package. At UA it was always destined that Austin Allen would be the next QB since he had paid his dues and oh yeah, his dad is one of the coaches. But Peavy was pushing him in the spring and had many clamoring for him to start until he tweaked his back. He can throw and he is very mobile. Should fit the Coach Morris mold. I like him a lot.

Peavy could've gone anywhere but chose UA cause he's a legacy.

Was the hit on Davis dirty? If not, I don't think it is fair to blame the UNT QB.
