I bought my tickets today still hopeful I can find someone that wants to go but that was the case in 2010 and 2011 too and we had great turnouts for the Armed Forces Bowl and BBVA Bowl too. I am part of the lost generation and am always frustrated by how pathetic our alums from my generation are, not even willing to go to a bowl game in Dallas when it is only our 5th time in about 30 years. We will have a solid showing, lost generation notwithstanding.

I would hope the recruits all have VIP Passes to the bowl game - could be the largest crowd to support SMU football in a while - and I hope we are not going to re-create the fun-zone on the Stage at the end of the stadium so all the seats appear to be empty.
I'm going to take bets that we are going to have a weak turnout. I've had a few friends say they're not on the fence about buying fairly expensive tickets to see LA tech against us with an interim coach. Hopefully that's just on my side and not for others but since we've only sold 2k (50%) of the allotment, I'm thinking it's a pervasive issue.
Yeah, I hear you - it's only been 5 years and the 4th time in the last 30 or so years our football team has played after November. The weather may be bad then too. So we are going to screw guys who have been working hard this year. Wah Wah Wah Eeeeeeyorrrrrrre. Sounds like your friends are "putting on the Donkey" vs. the Pony!
Yeah they take average fans to whole new level..

I bought my tickets today. I am a PonyFan. Period. 214-SMU-GAME
As others stated, if we hired a coach today, he would be out recruiting and/or glomming for the cameras in the press box and not on the sidelines of a bowl game where he wouldn't necessarily know the schemes, the terminology or the personnel.
Say what you might about Rick Hart, but the dude is smart and knows his business. I personally thought we'd get another year out of Chad, but I'm glad we are now able to move forward rather than being contracturally bound to another lame duck head coach.

I am sure Rick is diligently working on getting the best candidate we possibly can in as soon as possible.
Then he will probably start working on the Ford reseating plan.

Why would you want to put a new Head Coach in a tough bind coaching a new team a 1 week or so after getting hired when he wouldn't have a good feel for the personnel, tendencies, plays or gameplan especially when teams that lose their Coach and half their staff often underperform in the Bowl Game? You don't. Its never done

We are just 3 recruiting classes and a IPF away from a competitive program.

But you didn’t account for the fact some of our fans on this board are idiots that don’t really follow football.

I have no problem with Traylor trying to held this thing together so our guys are not "coachless" for the final game our seniors and Sutton will play for SMU. History suggests teams that go into bowl games having just lost their HC will generally perform poorly. I just hope our guys can finish strong and reinforce to this recruiting class that SMU remains an up and coming program.

We need an interim coach, for sure. But chad doesn’t get to say he took us to a bowl

The IPF plans and funding were finalized prior to the last home game. It's done. Going where the old natatorium was and the mustang club area. That is already in place.

Hope you're right though.

Wow! It's gonna be HUGE!

Should've left Perkins standing, filled in the hole and thrown down some used astroturf.
