Not sure what to think about this game. D is working hard and making some plays; O is totally off focus and sync. Someone need to explain to me why a ball kicked into the end zone in the air is an automatic touch back and does not need to be fielded; a kick off bounced untouched into the end zone is a live ball. Both situations have the ball in the end zone and untouched.

A kickoff is not a punt. It’s why you can do a onsides kick. It’s a live ball. It doesn’t need to be touched. It just needs to hit the ground.

I think it needs to go in the end zone in the air without hitting the ground to be a touchback.

Page was hoping that rolled into the end zone for a touch back. Absolutely stupid play. Should have covered and taken the bad field position. No amount of coaching fixes that level of stupid.

When they field in the end zone you will see them kneel or fair catch. With a kickoff the ball is live unlike a punt.
Re: Official SMU vs Tulsa game thread
It’s unbelievable how bad our offense is playing.

Geez. That play will be overturned. SB just keeps throwing it out or where our receivers can’t stay in bounds.

If page lets that roll into the end zone then covers it, that’s a touch back. Just can’t bring it into the end zone after possession for a touch back. That’s what he’s probably trying to do, but that’s idiotic.
