Re: Sonny Dykes to TCU??
I feel bad for any of our players if Sonny bails and he was the primary reason they came to SMU but it is what it is in the world of college football. After watching this team lose to both Houston and Memphis I keep thinking Sonny has built a team that is just slightly better than the teams JJ and Chad built...good enough to beat bad teams and become bowl eligible but year after year under coach after coach SMU has shown it's football program is not quite ready for prime time.
Will Sonny stay knowing there is much to still be done here or does he quit/bail on the program like JJ and Chad did? I'm more interested in how this team closes out it's season than I am what Sonny decides to do.

Sonny or no Sonny SMU is going to be SMU - beat up on the weak and helpless, crater against the only slightly better - go to the Incognito Bowl and get humiliated by Southwestern Rhode Island College of Dipilatory Science and Used Record Shop.
A long tradition of existence.

I don't think Sonny leaves. But if he does, we have a capable head-coach-in-waiting in Jim Leavitt. Pair him with a good OC and we will be competitive.

Would probably make for a more intense environment around SMU football. I wonder if Leavitt would be interested in another HC job or if he is content to stick with coordinating defenses. There are so many more demands on the HC

Re: Sonny Dykes to TCU??
I can't believe that they are interviewing Deion Sanders.
I sure hope that they hire him!
Most on their site want no part of Sonny - but seem to think that they will end up settling for him.
Per TCU site post re: their search:
Based on the following article, the current candidates are
Matt Campbell
Sonny Dykes
Billy Napier
Deion Sanders
Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken
Clemson defensive coordinator Brett Venables.
Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott
Denver Broncos running backs coach Curtis Modkins

I should add, the order that I have them listed does not mean anything.

Would he then be known as 'Prime Toad' ?

Looking at this list, you would think Sonny may be best positioned which is not great for us.
It may hinge on Matt Campbell's interest. Would he want to leave Iowa State for TCU? will he get paid more than the $4mm he's currently making...not sure. Billy Napier may be a candidate for the LSU job so he'll probably wait to see what happens there. The rest are OC an DCs that don't seem to have any texas roots. The Deion Sanders seems like a joke.

I donΓÇÖt think itΓÇÖs fair to assume Sonny would rather be at TCU than SMU.
Re: Sonny Dykes to TCU??
Deion was a Cowboy favorite. He'd make the Frogs look like they have more personality. He's been a good head coach at Jackson State going 9-4. Don't laugh too hard. He'd probably be a pretty good recruiter in this market.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

MC Hammer on the sideline would definitely help recruiting.
