DidnΓÇÖt you state definitively a few hours ago in another thread that SMU would *not* give him all he needed? Why state it as a question here?
Admin probably wanted to hold off the departure as long as possible because they couldnΓÇÖt get a replacement in place and recruit departures could have been worse?
Maybe Troy wasnΓÇÖt too surprised or mad when Troy Neal left for WVU after three years.

My question is the sentence that ends with a question mark.

Telling recruits to decommit while employed at SMU should be enough to have wrath at the SOB, but to do that against your biggest football rival only the devil does that. There are certain unwritten rules in sports, and coaches at the biggest rivals donΓÇÖt go to the other rival. You donΓÇÖt see a HC at Ohio State to go Michigan or Vice versa, or NC / Duke, Texas / A&M, or in other sports a coach at Barcelona to Madrid, it just doesnΓÇÖt happen because it is assumed this is never considered when you assume the face of the program. I was fooled by SD and wish him nothing but failure not just because itΓÇÖs TCU but because of what he did. Actions speak louder than words and heΓÇÖs basically told SMU to screw itself. Any self respecting alum, fan should find this unacceptable.
ThatΓÇÖs a P5 school to a P5 school. This is a non P5 school to a P 5 school. Completely different scenario. This is more like going from FIU to coach at Florida State.
It isnΓÇÖt like FIU to Florida State. FIU and FSU havenΓÇÖt played 100 times, with a close series record, with FIU winning the last two at FSU.
This is like the BYU coach (back when they got denied to the Big 12 several years ago), going to Utah in the PAC-12

Oh good, more patronizing.
First you stated that SMUΓÇÖs offer to Sonny ΓÇ£did not contain non-financial items he considered necessary.ΓÇ¥ No doubt, no qualification. Later, you post the above as a questioning, possible answer to the question. Those are very different takes on the exact same topic. So I was curious which you really meant and if you actually had any info.
