umm, this may be the best coached team in CUSA thus far, and you are [deleted] about coaching after a huge win. that's textbook hate

Doh is not a good basketball coach. I'm sure thats not a newsflash to you since you've said plenty about it yourself. A lucky win over Tulsa in a painfully meaningless season brought to us by Doh does not change that. If he's being propped up by assistants now and you think that's sustainable long term, more power to you i guess.

Hater saying hateful things

I have no interest whatsoever in getting in a [deleted] match here, but what would you call the blunt comments you have made about one Justin Haynes lately? if I'm a hater, what do you honestly call that? One thing to make comments about a grown 40 year old man making a half a mil and getting extensions and another thing to call out kids. Just because i'm not ready to give Doh another extension after one or two wins, that doesnt make me anymore of a hater than you are. Out.

Wow Hoop Fan, I defended you in the past, but now you show your colors....We are on the rise, and you seem so bitter. WHAT, did you like Dement, SMU head coach for a gazillion years with no title?

Doherty tore this thing down and is now building it up. "lucky win over Tulsa" indeed!!!!!!!!

i just do not understand the hate for Doherty. He has been here recruiting his [deleted] off, trying to get better at coaching.

He tore it down and tried to build it back up...all within the ruleset of SMU.

He should be praised, not condemmed. We have beat Memphis, USM..and Tulsa on the road with what many of you "experts called inferior talent".

Nice class coming in next year. Someone give props to Matt for having faith in the slow play!

Seriously, what is up with Hoop Fan? He used to be so objective, but now that SMU is having success at basketball and has much talent coming in next year,

He wants to stay a sour girl.....

Give it a rest, everyone else on the board flopped back to lovers again when they saw it was uncool to hate on Doherty, Jump on board!

I am not sure if I am really impressed with JFrog's last play getting the ball to Nuk for the open 3 or really surprised that TU didn't foul him when he went in to the lane before the pass. Wonderful play either way.

Haynes has been God awful this year, Doh & the staff have been nothing short of great. If it were the other way around, I'd call it that way. You seem bitter about the coach, to the point of not enjoying big wins. That's a pretty spiteful way to go through life. Just check this thread. You came w/the veiled hate, I called you on it, you tried to play it off, and then the hate just flowed so easily.

I get it, though. I'm the same way w/another of my teams. I just didn't realize how I must look until I saw your post, so I thank you for that.

I'll be the 1st to say I don't like Doherty - but these assistants are making a huge difference. We have to live with it for now. I'm excited about the guys coming in.

A lucky win over a crappy Tulsa team is something to get excited about these days b/c none of us expected (or at least me) to win more than 2-4 games in conf play. There is an actual offense and they seem to play hard. We aren't deep and have to grind it out.

The last 5 minutes was painful to watch for both teams, just really poor play. Our offense completely stalled and seemed timid. We are grateful they couldn't hit any FT's - that is the way it goes.

Here's the thing, I don't love the way Doh treated the kids early in his tenure. Also, I've never been a fan of him as a bench coach. That said, when he's engaged, he's a phenomenal recruiter. He sold freakin Cannen Cunningham on an empty trophy case. That was the sales pitch. Brilliant!

Now, if he's treating the kids better and is more complimentary, that's for the good. Beyond that, for whatever reason, the style of play/system is very effective, and it's not completely installed. Also, and I pay close attention to this stuff, but it's hard to really point to games we've been out X & O'd the last few years. It's been en vogue to say Doh can't bench coach, but the reality is that we've dictated tempo on everyone for close to 2 years now. Someone give me actual examples of us doing the wrong thing w/regard to situation & strategy. People used to complain about his short leash policy, but that hasn't been the case for quite some time either. Obviously, we have no depth this year, so that's part of it.
