Actually they didn't want Phillips as HC, Sumlin didn't want him at A&M and Phillips couldn't even get the FAU job. The fact that we ended up with him says he had no other options.
Aware of all of that. Check the board back then. Consensus was we thought we were getting their best recruiter and JC + JJ would open things up and they were stuck with special teams coach..and even houston ppl were [deleted] after the loss to tx st

It also translates into a disaster when you refuse to give your back up QB any snaps during the season until injury hits and forces him into the game. This team did not appear ready to play today which is another coaching issue. The only good news is that Burcham is getting some real game experience that he will need for next season.
Yes on all counts

It's 4 kids and 3 don't have any other FBS offers (Colbert, Mitchell, Hyder).

From most recruiting sources, he does a lousy job recruiting and particularly following up with kids. Most of his offers are through the high school coach with little personal contact, if any, thereafter.

Hipsters..haha... you sir have never seen a hipster.
Everybody knows SMU is a country club with fun parties and good looking women. I think the point is to show that we have more to offer.
