If you are running back why wouldn't you want to play in a system where you get 15 touches a game easy? If you are a running QB with limited pro prospects why wouldn't you want to play in that system? If you are a tall wide receiver why wouldn't you want to play in a system where you get 1 on 1 coverage and typically average over 15 yards per reception.

The triple option is a legit system. It's won multiple national championships. It lost effectiveness because literally everyone ran it and defensive players spent all day in practice and every game seeing it. As a once off on e schedule it would go back to being an extremely effective system.
