By the end of the week at minimum the following will have happened:
#1 lost at least once
#2 lost at least once
#4 lost at least once
#6 lost
#8 lost
#12 (lost or #1 loses twice)
#14 lost
#16 lost
#17 lost
One of #19 and #24 will have lost.
Without any more upsets this week at least 40% of the top 25 will have suffered a loss this week.

We need Cincy to beat Xavier and then I say we get the 24 spot.

X is definitely out but I think they are the only one and its a real possibility that we will be leap frogged by either USC, Iowa State or K State. Northwestern also needs to lose to Tennessee tomorrow because everyone is pulling for them to be ranked.
I know its some SMU pessimism, but as I've said before it has been earned thru the years.

I tend to agree with you. There were too many upsets of higher ranked teams by unranked teams. The ranked teams will not fall out of the top 25 and the teams who pulled the upsets will probably leapfrog us. Hopefully, some of those teams will lose this weekend and clear a path for us.
As a side note, even with Xavier's loss, they stayed at 15 in ESPN's RPI ranking roughly 15 spots ahead of us.

It is going to take us winning the next three games, then beating Cinci in a Moody showdown for us to get into the top 25.

Yeah to be fair to Xavier its worth noting that their last 4 losses have all been to ranked teams. Still can't stay ranked losing 4 of your last 5.
We needed more attrition at the bottom instead of the top, but if we come up short this week then we will be in next week as long as we take care of business and beat both ECU and Tulsa.

Another day of upsets at the top. I think USC will be back in with their win over UCLA so that means one more team besides Xavier needs to drop out. Notre Dame seems to be the most likely with 2 straight losses to unranked teams but I wouldn't bet on it.
Had some attrition in the others getting votes category with both K State and Iowa State losing so that helps our cause.
Correction: ND lost to 1 unranked team not 2

I see us getting a lot of votes and hitting the 26 spot.

#20 Purdue lost to Nebraska so they should drop out, but it looks like Northwestern is going to beat Indiana so that makes them a potential to jump us.
Realistically we probably don't get in this week, but win the next two against ECU and Tulsa and we will make it next week for sure. We need to ranked for the Cincy game in order to get maximum exposure. Should be a fun atmosphere.
