pac is down to 8 and adds SDSU, SMU, Colorado State, and Rice ...this is what I want, probably will be very far from the truth though haha

If Colorado bolts for the Big12, and if Pac12 decides to expand immediately, the rumor mill has invites going to SDSU, SMU and then Colorado State. Other than being in the same state as the departing school, I don't get it.

CoState is even suckier than CO on the football field. It is an R1 research institute, which I guess is a plus. But if conferences are trying to increase footprint, why not Tulane over COState? Tulane is a better school and a much better FB team. Just seems there are numerous better options than COState especially since the importance of proximity isn't what it used to be.

Your point is well taken but I don't think that Tulane has any real interest in moving their conference affiliation. Neither does Rice. I have a cross section of friends who went to Rice and most of them want the school to drop D1 sports altogether. SMU's football and basketball programs have been held together by a small but well-heeled and enthusiastic group of alums for many years now. Much more dedicated to sports than Tulane or Rice alums.

and of course if our AD has any say he will be suggesting that they also add that garbage school in denton- just like the AAC.

I’d pick AF over CSU. Bigger following, solid academics, also in Colorado.

Not sure about Rice which seems to have given up on athletics, but I think Tulane would happily accept an offer from the Pac 12 where they would slot in at #3 academically behind Stanford and Cal. They are basking in the afterglow of their Cotton Bowl humiliation of USC and their president is an enthusiastic supporter of athletics who doesn't regard on the field success as a distraction to high academic ambitions. If the Pac 12 is falling apart, I would expect Oregon, Arizona won't hang around long. What will the TV deal look like now with Colorado/Prime bailing and writing on the wall for other Pac12 historical anchor schools possibly bailing. I think we need to be very careful about jumping on a sinking ship until some of this gets worked out. It's possible our chances at the Pac 12 and ever the Big 12 went down the tubes today!

Buffs have been one of the worst teams in the PAC for years. Stay in a conference with NTSU and Charlotte? It’s depressing. No thank you.

Colorado is garbage but it's all about location and caring about sports. This ish is an epic mess tho.

True, but the PAC will still be P5, and we must get on that lifeboat while we can.
