Doh outrecruited KU--look it up on Rivals. Good luck to BCG. I don't believe in loyalty from coaches. Get what you can while you can. Somebody is going to take the jobs they left. Where is their loyalty. Good luck to the new Arkansas and A&M coaches. We love you for now.

Just got back in town from Fayetteville where I viewed the "Real Deal on the Hill" (NCAA sanctioned "evaluation" basketball tourney)

The word up in the Hills from some head coaches on location is that Arkansas has grade and drug problems within the team...but even worse, a "lame duck" AD (Broyles) who is trying to make the hire. Who is really going to take the job not knowing who your boss is going to be? Not anyone with much sense. You think SMU gets Doherty without Orsini being at SMU making the hire?

Also, keep a eye out for Houston Nutt as they are saying this will be his last year at Arkansas. Per their own fans, they are very viciious in spreading rumors about him now. I overheard that "Butch Davis' father's barber" said Butch was in line to be the next coach at Arkansas after next season. Silly isn't it?

After growing up in Texarkana & still visiting there twice annually, I'll believe anything about what goes on in those hills about 5 hours up Hwy 71. Interesting lifestyle for sure

I thought Copeland hired Orsini. After Turgeon turned down Arkansas in favor of A&M the Hogs finally found someone willing to take th job. I once lived in Texarkana also. Nice people.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — John Pelphrey was introduced as Arkansas' new basketball coach Monday — and he says he'll still be Arkansas' new coach when he goes to sleep Tuesday night.

"I'm not going anywhere," Pelphrey said. "But I have heard the first day is the toughest."

Pelphrey arrived a week after Dana Altman took over the Razorbacks. Altman backed out the next day and returned to Creighton.

Chancellor John A. White referenced Yogi Berra's remarks about it being "deja vu all over again" — but he said this time, Arkansas' coach is here to stay.

 "Don't plan on coming to a press conference next Monday," White said. "Enough's enough."

When did you live there - Nacho?

I lived there with my parents a long time ago. I was 3 years old but I have memories of it. We used to go watch a friend of my fathers who raced stock cars. I think we only lived there a few months. The last time I was there was after an SMU game game in Little Rock. We stayed there overnight. I was amazed at how friendly everyone was. Arkansas fans are very nice people until you get them inside a stadium. If you aren't on their side watch out. Sort of like A&M fans. They are actually some of the nicest people I have been around. If you are on their side in a stadium it's great but if not it is horrible. What I have learned is that they don't realize how they come across to other fans. They are just having a good time. SMU fans don't fully realize that in college towns the team is IT. There is nothing else. SMU will never duplicatre that atmosphere but to tell you the truth I would rather go to an SMU football game than any other.

Well said. I grew up there from '55 to '74 & then went to Smoooo; actually born there - in fact.

Still go back there twice annually to visit the family. Yeah - I remember growing up there when you're either Hog or Horn fans & then there's the left-overs. My best memories of my life are there & I love going home whenever I can from this rat race I now live in. Actually, it will be in July.

Unfortunately, that era will never, ever be duplicated; it was the old SWC & college football the way it 'used to be'.

I also read about why the Wichita team fell apart last season. At one time they were actually ahead of A&M in the rankings but then fell off a cliff. Seems that their two best players had an interest in the same girl and then had a huge falling out over it. The team never recovered. Didn't this happen to the Mavs back in the Jason Kid days? I remember that he and another player got into it over a girl which severely hurt the team. Note to SMU players: don't go messing around with your teammmates girlfriend.

Supposedly,Jason Kidd wanted to get w/Toni braxton, one night on a road trip, Braxton came to the Hotel looking for Kidd. She was intercepted by Jim Jackson who told Braxton that Kidd was sick, asleep in his room. Supposedly, Jimmy J and Toni got nasty and thats when the 3 Js came apart. Aside from that, Mashburn was always hurt during that stretch, so they never won.

Wasn't there a snaking (stealing one's girlfriend) episode involved in the Dodson case at Baylor. Not only can it create tensions in the locker room, it can be deadly. On the other hand, there are amble NBA stories of pass-around babes. Girls that the team can share.

Latest rumor on Arkansas Basketball is that they have hired Rob Evans as an assistant coach. If I recall correctly he was in the final two between he and Doherty for our new coach.

That could be a nice hire, IF, he has the kind of energy on the recruiting trail that he showed at Ole Miss. If not, they could have used a younger assistant, w/AAU ties, to lock down the roster
