I hate to brag here boys, but I did get a degree in Advertising from SMU. Just started reading this post this morning. Give me a couple of hours and I will have something that blows "pony up" out of the water. Marketing, its what I do. :D

My degree is in marketing and all I know is that I would be upset with people bashing my campaign before I ever released it. Just because there is a horse and arrow on a pocket schedule does not mean someone has stumbled on to an entire marketing campaign. I guess for the TV ads they will just hold up one of the pocket schedules and wave it a little. If you guys just need something to gripe about, how about the government trying to regulate fatty foods. Now that is something to gripe about.

And maybe if it is true, the people involved will see the negative response and have time to come up with something better. Who knows?

Pony up

Post by Charlie NT73 »

When I first heard the "Pony Up" slogan--well---honestly, I had to
think twice. The "Red Arrow" design, seems like something is not
blending together. I guess the SMU marketing dept has their reasons.

Mustang Mania was a very good marketing program for SMU-
People remember this slogan. I would have brought it back.

First one that hit me. I know it needs work, but this is not my day job like the [deleted] at Richards group.

wasn't Horse Power and old slogan as well? Seems like that one could be resurrected as well.

My point is the negative response is on a campaign that has not yet been released. Everyone is saying the "pony up" is the one and only item on a 6 month drawing board based on the fact that MM65 saw it and some receptionist said "I guess that is the program". Lets wait until the campaign is introduced. Believe me, if it sucks, I will help lead the charge against it. But the word out of marketing was that there is a TV campaign getting ready to be released next month. I would imagine if TV money is being paid they will back it with print, radio and billboard. Why don't we first wait to see it and then see if it works, and then let everyone in the marketing department know that we are all better and smarter than them.

I don't understand why they are waiting to release the "BIG" ad campaing. I have seen uh billboards all over town for the last month. Maybe we should start a little sooner.

Maybe it takes a while to get the Pony Up. I imagine he has been quite depressed the last 20 years.
