I'm all for trying something new. I'd say 99% of the crowd isn't glued to their seat, waiting to hear Birth of the Blues or Route 66 again.
You can have jazzy/jazz-rock arrangements of most any song, just something that's entertaining and grooves.

I'm not against it. I think retooling, in some way, is essential. The key is for the retooling to be something that actually captures the crowds attention.

I just want to know the General's opinion of Rice and their band.
Retooling IS essential. Traditions continue to live through the Hub, but the times are a changin'. They gotta keep up and mix in "hip" stuff here and there to connect to the current generation.

You need to go to the lettermen's lounge or hangout with the smokers during halftime - it would be better for your blood pressure.

Rice sucks and so does its stupid band!!
I'm disappointed that I can't get down to Houston for the game. But the silver lining is that I don't have to either look at or watch their band at any point. I can live with hearing little snippets in the background during the telecast. They're a bunch of clowns.

My blood pressure should be OK provided the band keeps it real this year.

I hear that they are doing an all "gangsta-rap" half-time this year. They will be 'keepin' is real' and 'representin''.

Don't get too excited. They've started to move away from that concept. They might briefly hit it in the opener but it's not like it used to be.
That sucks. If we can go back to the classic uniforms why can't we go back to the classic sounds of the Mustang band?
