Back to a point that was brought up earlier in this thread. I was certainly optimistic that Jones' recruiting class would have exceeded that of Bennett. However, I think it is important to remember that where our program was at when Bennet was hired compared to where the progam was at when Jones was hired. I think this has a great deal to do with the success of Jones' first recruiting class.
When Bennett was hired he was inheriting a program that had gone 22-34 under Cavan, coming off of a 4-7 year and had been playing for 13 years since the DP. Comparing this to the condition of the program after Bennet left, a record of 18-52, coming off a 1-11 year and playing for 19 years since the DP. I think it is clear that Bennett had much better selling points for his first recruiting class than Jones does as far as the condition of the program goes. While Jones has a very good reputation coming off the BCS game, his overall work at Hawaii and NFL experience; Bennett was a very hot comodity in college football at the time with all of his so called "great Texas connections."
In sum, if Jones' recruiting class is close to what Bennett's first class was then that seems about right and I don't think we should be too down about it. However, I think we should expect a much improved recruiting class next year.

McDade had 8 Catches for 63 yards in a 38-27 win over Midlothian. Doesn't appear to McDade is as explosive at WR as he was at QB. I'd like to see him get a whole lot more YAC at the 4A High School level. Surprisingly, he isn't really even the big play threat on his own team.
Kyle Guinyard 68 receptions 1212 yards 17.8 ypc 16 TDs
Deonte McDade 53 receptions 569 yards 10.7 ypc 5 TDs

I am a graduate of Ennis and I still follow the Lions. I also happen to be a big Mustang fan with season tickets. The reason that the other receiver Kyle Guinyard has 30 more catches and many more yards and touchdowns is because he is a stud. He is a junior and will be higher rated than McDade by all the recruiting experts. That being said. McDade is still very good. He was all Ennis had last year so his numbers were inflated. This year Ennis has a quarterback who can throw so the balance is back in the offense. Also know that McDade has been playing some defense for the Lions this year as well. If the Lions are fortunate enough to make a long playoff run I believe you will see his production go up significantly. You could see in the first playoff game he was more of a focus in the gameplan than the regular season.

A 6'1" 180lb WR with 4.5 speed....I like it.
