Sorta Ugly write-up on Manual from Slam Online. The jumper thing isn't the first time I've heard he's a 'non-shooter'
Ryan Manual, 6-5, PG/SG, Fort Bend Austin, 2011
It was a difficult game for Manual with the second quarter basically being negated after Bush sat in a 2-3 zone for the entire quarter that they refused to come out of. You can’t blame Manual’s coach for opting to hold the rock and kill the clock, but the game of cat and mouse about the zone left a number of college coaches shaking their heads in disbelief. When the game actually started to have a little action, the SMU recruit looked real nice running the pick and roll for a big point guard and set his teammates up with countless open coring opportunities. If Manual really wants to make an impact in C-USA, he’s definitely got to get his jumper right, though.

“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

Ft.Bend Austin played Bush again tonight. Lost by 2(56-58). Manuel had game high 26 Pts. Heard that he is more of a penetrator and needs to develop his jumpshot more but he hit 5-3's in this game and several other jumpshots. Didn't penetrate much at all. Probably due to Longhorn commit and AAU summer ball teammate, 6'10" junior, Cameron Ridley controlling the paint for Bush.

Almost every austin game, he has half their points. Last week they scored 70 and he had 35 etc. Great to hear about the 5 3s. Best part of the Slam write-up is that he's honing his chops at PG, which is where this staff wants to try him

What's wrong with his jumper?

Not too sure, but if you look at the houston preps video w/Chris Gaston, I don't love the mechanics. It's not severely flawed or w/a massive hitch or anything, just comes off as being a bit unnatural, but its not a perfect evaluation tool(lol). An ex-staff member told me he was a 'non-shooter' right when he committed, so that gave me some pause.

Watching the video, its easy to see that Manuel's j isn't textbook. Rondo's isn't either & he's doing ok, lol.

Francis Parker 56, Horizon 43. Pts: Norman (FP) 20, Dunklin (FP) 18, Cross (H) 19.
Norman scored 20 in his team's 13 pt. victory Tuesday night. BTW, gotta love his teammate's name, Dalante Dunklin. Great name for a basketball player.

Jalen Jones led Kimball in scoring tonight with 21 pts in their W.
Cunningham led Lamar with 16 in their W tonight.
Norman scored 22 pts & had 12 rebounds in a W on Friday night.

Thanks for posting PD....I like the quote from Martins coach about a big kid like Cannen only comes along once in a while...I hope Lamar cam make the playoffs so he gets some pressure games and would love to go watch him play.
