Lagging behind but more Texas focus finally. Crazy all the out of state schools are all over Texas and we aren't in on a lot of TX High schools.

Thanks for the numbers. Got any qualitative data?

(Zero sarcasm intended; honest question).

Really looks like Baylor has been pounding the ground in Texas putting in a lot of time and sending out a lot of offers. Or, maybe they're just blind offering the hell out of Texas, a la what awful fraternities do to bump up pledge class numbers. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how that pans out for them, especially with our old friends the Mustache Brigade on staff there.

well schools on the lower end of the Totem Poll usually have to offer more to get the same number. That's why Texas and TCU are toward the bottom in offers

Don't discount the fact that Baylor's coaching staff is totally clueless and

wouldn't know a real prospect if it bit them on their gluteus maximus.

Probably because we got to him way late and don't have a strong Texas recruiter

I don’t post on this board much lately because I find it very tiresome debating topics such as "TCU is no longer our Rival"…what garbage which shows a total lack of depth in thinking. That said, I big Thank You to both Stallion and Hoopmanx, always enjoy your posts.

My $.02
Stallion’s observation regarding Texas recruiting is dead-on. If it came from a different poster it would have been better received, which tells you a lot about those complaining. It is not lost on me that Stallion has been portrayed over the years as one of the most negative posters, yet his expectations for this program, much like mine, are far greater than many of the so-called ‘sunshiners’.

Going forward, the SMU-Houston game should be much like the Texas-OU game in determining who represents C-USA West in the Championship game. But unlike the Red River Rivalry, which over time is usually a toss-up, we should beat Coog High on a rather consistent basis…(70/30???)

Nice article on Mike Ford getting his degree. Reminded me that Ron Meyer signed a better QB in 1 year than JJ has in 4 years.

JJ is by far our best HC post DP. But when you factor in that we paid him unprecedented $$$ and have so dramatically lowered our academic requirements, to date I would only give him a B+. Given the total uncertainty in college football and our need to get better sooner rather than later, I have to tell you I was hoping for an A and am therefore a little disappointed. We need this coaching staff to provide their A game to have a more realistic chance of BCS membership.

Can’t remember a year when there was any more pressure on an SMU player to produce than will be on Kyle Padron this year. If he gets hurt or simply doesn’t progress, we have no Plan B (kinda like last year).

Hoopmanx, you speak of the difficulties that Doh is having in recruiting given the existing talent base. (i.e. freshmen will not automatically find playing time) Are you saying that this current team is potentially a Top 40 team talent-wise? If not, seems like we could still ‘recruit-over’ or do you think we are hitting a temporary ceiling?

Have a great summer everyone.
