i'll hold off on the kool aid for now. this really sucks for us, no matter how you spin it. our biggest rival is at the big boys table. recruiting nightmare. i just threw up a little.

With TCU in the Big 12, our best hope now becomes that the SEC might feel compelled to respond. Dallas-Fort Worth was previously unoccupied, but with the addition of TCU, the Big 12 has taken a more active approach marking their territory. This will not go unnoticed by the SEC. The offer to TCU will be extended sometime in the next few days, according to two people with ties to the Big 12. The people spoke only on condition of anonymity because the league has not announced the decision.
The Big 12 board of directors authorized interim commissioner Chuck Neinas to begin negotiations with TCU to become the Big 12's 10th member, the league announced on Thursday. He'll begin discussions immediately.
The vote was unanimous, but Missouri did not participate on the advice of legal counsel.
Sounds as if things are still swell in the BIG BEVO!

Good news for the Frogs, and not terrible news for the Stangs. There is still a lot of realignment left. Just glad we got a chair early in the game.

There's a reason for TCU's inferiority complex (see Fatterson's comments) re: SMU despite all of its recent winning in FB. You see, the general "non-athlete" student body at the end of the day KNOWS that regardless of FB prowess, SMU is a better school, is grander, is in a better city, doesn't smell like cow [deleted], and that they could not get in to SMU. Seriously, at this point, show me a non-football player who would choose TCU over SMU, and I'll show you an idiot.

If the SEC wanted DFW, they would've taken TCU first. Can't imagine this concerns them at all.

Say what you will, but TCU earned their way into this. We just need to do the same thing. Congrats to them and hope we join the BCS fraternity in the next few weeks.

SMU now gets to join whatever at large BCS conference is available (whether it be the BE or MWC). SMU will be in a position to earn BCS births (if we can free-up that over challenging non-conf schedule). So in 5-6 years when the Big 12 dissolves, who do you think will be in a better position? Before you respond, look at how many options Baylor has in this whole process.
TCU is celebrating, but the true TCU fan should be very concerned.
Yeah but we don't have time on our side to position ourselves like TCU did. We don't have a decade to improve. I think most on this board are concerned that we will be left on the outside looking in when all these conferences dissolve. Even if MWC and CUSA merge, that doesn't mean it will get a seat at the table. I think everyone has a right to worry right now.

The SEC did not have any need for SMU until the Big 12 had already taken TCU.
It could have just as easily have been that the SEC added TCU, which would have then pressured the Big 12 to take SMU.
Market penetration is always a concern.
