ND will always have a home for its other sports because there are 8 Big East non-football members. ND, Georgetown, St John's, Providence, Villanova, Seton Hall, Marquette, Depaul will stay together in the Big East or split off to form a solid conference. Hence, the only way ND has to join a conference is if college football requires it via the BCS or playoff system. I don't think that will ever happen as ND is way too profitable. Money talks. Even if those schools decide to form their own conference and leave the football members behind we would now be aligned with Cincinnati and South Florida. Supposing that Louisville, West Virginia, Rutgers, and UCONN get other AQ invites and Navy decides to go back to independence SMU, UH, USF, UCF, Cincinnati, Boise State, and Air Force can invite USM/Tulsa/Memphis/ECU/Nevada.

East
UCF
USF
Memphis
ECU
Cincinnati
Southern Miss

West
Boise St
Air Force
Nevada
SMU
Houston
Tulsa

Yep. But at least you cut the dead weight. If you want to see this as a glass that's half full.

Missouri is really the last card holding the whole conference house of cards standing.

Do they stay or do they go?

I'm sure they are no great friends of BEVO but do they really want to be a one or two conference wins a year team in the SEC East?

and the waiting continues...

It happened. HB Pony Dad went off on that cougar like white on rice. I've never seen him in action. There was a hush in the whole bar as he moved in... but then she had to get a massage. I'm sure HBPD per-arranged said full body massage and as soon as she was out of earshot he asked me, "Hey Thad, uh, your leaving in a couple weeks, right?"

(And then he excused himself... and I didn't see him - or her - for a good while. They came back both looking super calm.)

Cougar had a roar.

Good God man, there are things in life you just can un-read!

Was this woman a cougar to Thad or to Thad and HP Pony Dad?

It is an improvement over CUSA as constructed today. Also, I only suggest this as a counter to staying in CUSA right now. I think we have to go to the Big East if invited. For those who fear the Big East falling apart, I think we would be able to form this league as a worst case scenario. I would even consider replacing ECU with Temple.

listen, the Big East isn't going to issue an official invite if they aren't 100% sure we are going to accept it. that's why these type of meetings occur. that's why the info last friday leaked about an invite - because they had contacted the school(s) to begin those discussions.

The point is, there won't be an invite to turn down. if you hear they announce an invite, the deal has already been approved.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Because they have won so many titles in the Big 12? It's all about stability and not getting left out.

Heard a good interview the other day. It was from an OU guy, but good analysis of the MU situation nonetheless. Said he felt that Mizzou was really operating out of fear of getting left out, which is totally understandable, but that he felt that fear was really overblown. Yeah, Texas and OU might eventually leave, but it would be highly unlikely that Mizzou would be left out. They have 3 really important things, lots of tv's, an engaged fanbase, and most importantly no other dead weight little brother school in the state tying them down.

So, essentially, Mizzou could hold out and see what happens in a few years, and maybe get the B1G invite that they actually want. If all hell breaks loose, call the B1G and SEC up and they will be taken care of. That being said, if you are Missouri, are you willing to play that chess match with the future of your university? Especially when a really good offer is on the table, and one that comes with the added bonus of getting away from Texas and more importantly the uncertainty that surrounds the Big 12 year in and year out?

The answer is yes, if the B10 is your ultimate dream/goal. Missouri will always have a spot. They are not Baylor that if the B12 blows up will have to panic and pray. They have to be at the top of the list for the B10 in if they want to expand. And given time Missouri can improve on whatever areas are needed in order to get that invite. A move to the SEC makes no sense geographically, athletically or academically.

Ironice, isnt it - that UT's greed about all of this (Longhorn Network, unequal sharing and PAC 10 flirting) caused A&M's fear of being left out - which caused them to bolt - and MU's fear of being left out - which probably causes them to bolt. Some things you just cant get back in the bottle - and any school with options has to protect themselves once they realize that the other party values their interests above the historic partnership that is in place. Ut will end up king of a much smaller castle due to their greed.

A&M was invited to create a joint network with UT but waffled so UT proceeded without them.

it was clear to A&M who was calling the shots - and the "invite" was lip service from UT. If it was on equal footing they would have named it something else (Big 12 network - like what big ten did). That offer is UT "historic alteration" to keep from losing face in all of this.

How is it historic alteration if the A&M ad admitted they waffled on joint network? OU ad stated Ut fully made them aware 2 years prior to network. OU is in favor of creating their own network so they can keep the Tier 3 rights and not have to share. That is why they were in favor of sharing tier 1 and 2 rights.
