SMU won't confirm Big East invite. Statement: "We are continuing to work through the process, but do not have any comment."

Thanks to all who made this happen.
Looking forward to a big celebration press conference/ceremony whenever it can be scheduled.

Hey Kate - Journalism 101 - You can't just call Orsini or his secretary and ask what's up. You have to physically go and talk to an assistant AD or his gopher and offer a little quid pro quo. If that doesn't work, rifle through some trash or something.

I can't post on Rivals from work due to internet filtering but have a question for Mr. Shore:

What will the Big East football team lineup look like in 2012 and 2013 given my understanding that the Big East will hold Syracuse, Pitt and W. VA to the 27 month severance and my understanding that SMU and the other 5 schools will enter the BE in 2012?

It took our froggie friends 10 years from committing to big time football to get their invite and they wouldnt be playing in Beast until next season. Took us 3. And could be the same season we both are finally playing in an AQ conf.

Thanks Gary for all your help

I think this is better than staying in our conference. Good job SMU!

I went to the ESPN site and there sure are a lot of haters on that message board. It's sad.

Yep, twitter too. Lots of bashing of SMU in particular.

Overwhelming. Biggest thing to SMU in 25 plus years.

That's to be expected, we haven't exactly done anything to foster much goodwill in the football world.

Maybe Turner will commemorate the occasion with a new fountain near Ford.

Actually, I think a lot of them are just jealous (ie, folks from schools that didn't get invited to the conference).

Yeah, a lot of the negative Twitter comments are coming from Tulsa, USM, Memphis and ECU folks. Can't blame them, because we'd be bitter too if we got left out.

They should have bought land for their school in Dallas...
