You nailed it, Mitch. I believe Jones has been doing that for some time. Wouldn't be surprised if he knew about the Daily Campus letter from the walk-on beforehand. Quite strange.
Mr. Pony, you have been wanting Coach Jones fired since we did not go to the bowl you wanted SMU to go to. Anything negative about Coach Jones you will agree with so your post does not surprise me.
Not sure where you came up with that, bud. I've never said he should be fired. I do think he's overrated, and his repeated selfish dissing of the Liberty Bowl and continued infatuation w/ his previous employer are not in SMU's best interest.

You guys are such b itches.
Why don't you shoot SO an email and let him know where and when you are available for a bowl game so hey can make it work for you?

Our players are lucky, that they play in a time when every team that doesn't have a losing record goes to a bowl. These guys beat just ONE team that has a winning record. They should shut up about wanting a vacation, "reward" and beat somebody.
Lost to A&M 46-14 Lost to USM 27-3 Lost to Tulsa 37-7 Lost to Houston 37-7 Lost to a 4-7 Navy team for the upteeth time, at home.

Thank goodness we beat TCU. UCF was a good win regardless of their record.

Well, June and I would finally agree on something. When he decides to really be all in with SMU, shoot me a pm.
I'm not wrong about him. I've maintained this stance for 2 1/2 years and nothing has changed my mind.
I just want a coach to be succesfully and look the part of being passionate about being here.
I don't think we have that.

This "reward" idea stated by both playes and fans seems to demonstrate that a .500 season is just fine. This is just another example of mediocrity being "rewarded" in our society so that everybody's self esteem won't be hurt.
If you don't think Coach Jones cares about SMU or our student athletes then either you don't know him very well or you have a personal agenda that won't let you see it.

Why should the players want to play at home when we draw less than 15,000 for the last home game. So the 3000 students who normally attend games were on vacation, but what about everyone else? There will be fewer than 30k at the Cotton Bowl if we draw Ticket City. This is why the players don't want to play in Dallas. They have told me they prefer to play on the road where there are more fans. Places where people get into the games. In our section, I'm pretty sure that Ponyscott, BetterHalf and I are the only three people who stand and cheer during the game. The crowd was so pathetic yesterday that Mestengo or OTP or whatever he is going by these days could yell at us to sit down on a fourth down yesterday from a section and a half away and I could hear him clearly.
If we want the players to quit [deleted] maybe we should act like real fans. I challenge everyone here who is a season ticket holder to buy an extra ticket or two next season and give those seats away. I challenge every Ponyfans member to commit to bringing a friend or two to at least five home games and one away game next year. And when you are at the game get off your @$$ and cheer. Make noise and yell like no one is watching. Give the guys a real home field advantage and you won't have to worry about them saying "let's play anywhere but in Dallas."
Over the last three seasons, these guys have given up Christmas and Thanksgiving with their families and some will miss their graduations this year depending on what bowl they attend. To me it's understandable that they would want to go somewhere fun when you look at the sacrifices they are making.

7-5 is better than a .500 season. Just sayin'.
