The only ones ruining their lives are the ones that decided to sell large amounts of mary-jane and prescription pills. Others just testing positive for smoking will probably get no more than counseling and a letter home, if anything at all. The reality is that these four are 22-23 year old adults who know exactly what they are risking when they undertake these operations. You have to spend some time making connections, pickup up and hiding product, gathering customers, keeping lists, contacting customers, circulating product, etc. They had plenty of time for conscience to kick in. I don't wish them any more injury than what they already face, but they've been playing roulette for awhile and got caught. This isn't getting nabbed red-handed passing a joint to a friend which most of us can identify with.
I don't dislike pot. In fact, I think it should be legalized. I just don't think 22-23 young adults should be selling you marijuana and prescriptions drugs and on that the law and I agree. For now, laws are laws and if you knowingly break them, you pay the price.

Not the football policy but this will probably be your football drug policy. No way can TCU spin this thing in a positive way; its sucks, its embarrassing, and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else except maybe UT, tOSU, and Oregon.

Interesting tidbit on fox4. Fron 2006-2010, TCU had 4 arrests for drugs, SMU had 127 and Baylor had 95. Be careful when asting stones. (Not defending the students or players at tcu.)

Sounds like TCU PD is under enforcing. Does it really sound reasonable for TCU to have 30X less pot use than SMU given similar size, income, draw and demographics. Geez, think guys.

Especially since in one day you quadrupled your 2006-2010 arrests! For dealers, not just possession!

Be sure and look at the DMN's report on all of those school to consider the drug citiation...TCU had something like 174, and even SMU was lower than that (although combined arrests/citations were still higher for SMU).
I agree that it looks like inconsistent enforcement - there is no doubt that given the similar school size and similar student profile that a major difference in the number of students using drugs between the schools is unlikely.
I was also surprised at the number of drug arrests at UTD in that same report....

Yeah I think that is a indication that SMU students are arrested-TCU students WERE just disciplined

I don't understand the income deal SMU kids have about TCU kids being poor white trash. I know you were not saying that in your post. Two of the biggest families in Dallas sent their children to TCU, do the Hunts and Perots ring a bell? Just because a kid isn't driving a Range Rover doesn't mean they don't come from money. Display of wealth is more in your face at SMU in a large part cause the size of Dallas, location in UP, and constant one up attitude many children develop in that atmosphere. Not trying to knock SMU, it's just my observation. Great grad schools though

How did you possibly interpret SMUer's comment to indicate that he thinks TCU kids are poor white trash? He said the demos of the two schools are pretty much the same. Or were you just commenting on the thoughts in general?

My sister just graduated from TCU and I've never seen so many Range Rovers in my life on sorority row...I agree. SMU and TCU are almost mirror images of each other demographics wise. I think the podunk perception is a Fort Worth vs Dallas thing and the fact that you have non-alumni coming to games and supporting you, and these people aren't as extravagant or showy as the HP crowd that supports SMU.

No worries Junior and I completely understand SMuer. Ft Worth or shall i say acouple of big families in Ft Worth always wanted to keep its FW from the Dallas style growth. I have know idea has to why they didnt want change but now that that group is dying off the city is beginning to grow like Dallas while retaining its western culture.
