For the perusal of the unwashed ponyfan masses, a give you a new candidate. Say hey to the best dressed coach in the land, Cliff Warren of Jacksonville. Warren knows Orsini through his days as Hewitt's main man on the Ga Tech bench. Also w/Hewitt at Sienna. Has had pretty good success turning around a dead Jacksonville program.

He'd come cheap, dress better than Doh, and recruit like a mofo. Fiesty guy

NMSU Marvin Menzies. You can say he coaches in the WAC, but has 1 (1st), 2 (2nd), and 2 (3rd) in 5 years. When was the last time an SMU coach could say that?

Check their schedule....it was a gauntlet. I actually like this idea - talk about instant fans in all the right places....Plus we would have about 1M left over for assistants and marketing.

yea, but the roster was super young. He can coach & recruit. Can't go by 1 year. He's Paul Hewitt in the making, better bench coach though

Don't think you could sell a guy with an 8-21 record to what little is left of the fan base. I will accept one of the following:
1) Older guy who had some success in the NCAA , but managed to get himself fired. Hewitt or even Fran.
2) Younger guy from a smaller program that has had significant success. Bruiser would be cool.
Do unto others before they do unto you!!

Some of the names being thrown out amazes me. How bout we just dig up John Wooden and see if he still wants to coach.

Bruce Pearl should be added to the list. He can show up shirtless to our women's bball games.

There is no fan base. He's a better coach than Hewitt, potentially as good a recruiter, and Fran is a maniacal joker that makes Doh look sane behind the scenes. 8-21 doesn't matter at all, if the guy is a good coach. You take what's good, not hot at the moment

let's face it, the "fan base" isn't returning until we start winning and making post season appearances on a regular basis. No coach is going to make that happen overnight
