I couldn't have said it better. This kid's really at a fork in the road. I hope he chooses the right path.

Even if he fails, that fact that the administration is letting Brown admit this kid is a huge plus in my opinion. It was rumored that he would be able to admit anyone he wanted, but this proves it. This is not the same ol' SMU, and I never thought I'd see the day...

While I am ecstatic that we are gunning for 5-star prospects, I don't think this should be celebrated yet. I am cautiously optimistic regarding this kid, but he hasn't done anything for us yet and could really mar SMU's reputation. I am all for second chances and so I will withhold my judgement until he proves a strong asset to SMU basketball and the SMU community at large. As great as it will be put SMU on par with Duke, Stanford, and USC we cannot forget that SMU's ultimate mission is to educate. I truly hope that this is a case of a kid with a good heart surrounding himself with the wrong people. If that is the case then hopefully Brown and company can provide that strong support system,

no real opinion here other than i do not hold the DUI against him. At SMU, a good bit of the student population has had one. I never got one, but admit I was stupid enough to drive when i shouldn't have back in the day. Hope this kid gets it together off the court and is a huge sucesss story.

I for one am pumped. Surprised by everyone playing Debbie Downer on this. LB has experience getting the most out of some of the biggest head cases in recent NBA times. He will help this kid get his head on straight and do great things at SMU.

Don't you know that this is our default position on anything that could possibly be perceived to be good news? It takes time to break us of the doom and gloom mentality as that is all we have known for a very long time.

He will have every opportunity to blow this chance during his idle year. If he makes it to his eligibility he should be able to make it all the way. This excites me.
