Maybe this belongs on the around the hilltop page - but just wondering if anyone knows if Tech is rated above or below U of H academically? I really dont know. Just wondering.

For some reason Tech is the only group that comes in and acts like totaly turds at Ford. Even the hated froggies usually behave themselves and have fun - but the Tech people carry in huge chips on their shoulders since they know everyone thinks they are idiots, and they just cant have a good time. Compensating for something I guess.

In any event, looking forward to the game. i think it sets up pretty well for us actually - and is definately the easiest of the three Big 12 games for us - if for no other reason in that it is at home and althought we start slow the coaching change at Tech could cause them some issues. They will have a huge talent advantage. Our D is a stength in the secondary, so could be interesting if we can get any pressure.

Someone on a Big12 board posted "tech is the chimpanzee pod of the Big12 Zoo." So true. Also: "WVU was added to give tech someone to hurl academic smack at instead of their feces." Although they are rated the same.

I went to the TCU WVU game in Morgantown and their fans were awesome. Harsh but fair and very willing to share their "shine" afterward. Tech fans? Chimps at the zoo.

Should be an interesting battle between 2 teams that have not won their respective conferences in years.

+1 to mrydel and stallions comments regarding 1) consistently under prepared to start the season and 2) tech has consistently had better recruits, so it isn't that big of a deal that they have more player turnover.

Rivals and Scout are not predicting Tech blows us out. In fact, because of the new staff and key losses on defense believe it will be a very good game.

I also found this interesting info:

SSC looked at the Rivals.com rankings from 2002 and 2003 and compared them to the all-conference teams for the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10, and SEC from 2002-2007. (The Big East was excluded because some of the current members were not members of a BCS conference in 2002 or 2003.) They found the following probabilities of a prospect with a particular star rating being named all-conference at some point in his career...

5-stars 33.8%
4-stars 20.0%
3-stars 11.6%
2-stars 7.2%

But Tech did not have a great class last year and is not having a very good one this year. They won't challenge for the Big 12 championship. We have a very good chance to beat them.

No, none of those things have anything to do with a stat class. It is because your argument about recruiting star rankings is not logically or mathematically sound. Hence the stat class reference.

The inferiority complex they as a group suffer from is really quite interesting. I have several very close tech friends and they make comments about their own. One, a former player, will not go to home games anymore unless he is in a box. A good Christian man who can't tolerate what he sees and hears around him in the stands.

Its really strange. Individually they are fine. When they all get together they go right into the toilet and act like their average sat would make you expect they would act.
