Does not matter. He was recruiting players for another school while on our paycheck. That is wrong. Nothing wrong with seeking another job but working for another school while accepting our pay is not right.

Grant- my problem is still with the fact that our admin. did nothing but smile and let jj p1ss all over us. That ended any support that I had for this school until he is gone.

Like I said, if a kid asked what would happen if June went to ASU, the best answer for SMU that June could give is that he would want him on his team whether he was coaching SMU or ASU. Telling the kid that he would not want him at ASU is not going to make the kid want to play for him if he stays at SMU is it?

I understand. To me, that is a different issue than the argument that what he did was morally wrong because he was stealing money from us by recruiting for ASU.

Again the evidence is the kid that had narrowed his choices to SMU and Nebraska. And then out of the blue committed to ASU when they did not even have a coach. The shows full intent to recruit the kid to another school while still on SMU's payroll. That is not a kid asking what would happen. That is a kid actually committing to a school without a coach. Wonder how that happened?

Who knows. Where is the evidence that June told him to do that? Did the kid state that? Why would he commit before June was hired if June told him he would have an offer once June got there? Maybe he just read the press reports and thought it was a good idea. Point is, you do not know what June told him if anything.
It might not have been in the press but it was definitely on Rivals/Scout. So many arguments on ponyfans concern matters which some know from Rivals/Scout that others don't have access. That being said I don't think it is near a big deal as some are making it out to be-just my opinion-I think similar things happen all the time-SMU coaches screwed up by letting the info out. I agree it was wrong but in the end it wouldn't have matter with a single one of those recruits. They were all committed to Klemm not June Jones. SMU's favorite lady Scout reporter clearly got some great stories that showed they were ALL gone while Rivals was pulling its punches and basically lieing to its subscribers. That's where the real hate for Laken grew intense-but she got the story right-Rivals didn't. Do you want your recruiting service to tell the truth or be a cheerleader for the program

Face it- Dallas fans will not support a mediocre team that is totally unexciting. FACT!!! If we want non-SMU Dallas fans to support us then we need to win big games, have an exciting team that is not ho-hum boring and play teams that they know about.. And have a coach that gives a damn about the school and the community. IMO jj engages neither.
IMO the CofC are all successful businessmen who know that if your product is second rate (i.e.- totally sucks) then it won't be very successful. Either they want to step up to the plate and move us forward or they prefer that we drop down to a level of fball that the university can support financially. The decision is theirs and will be obvious at the end of this season.
Interesting that you condemn me for criticizing our fans for low attendance while the same time that you rant on and on about how you aren't attending the games because you hate JJ so much. Have a nice life without SMU football. Glad you wont be taking up space at Ford this Saturday. Coaching regimes come and go, but the program needs steady support to survive. Sorry you won't do your part.
Topper is correct I've had more criticism with the football program than most-but I still plant my [deleted] in my seat for every game every year SMU is not an NFL Franchise It is Division 1A underdog whose fans must support at an elevated level for us to have any chance to compete. If you don't believe in what they are doing then cut off or reduce Mustang Club donations before you stop going to games

Why are we so quick to jettison "fair weather fans"? We should be bummed when someone who wishes good things for SMU decided to go...
SMU doesn't graduate many fans and makes virtually no effort to create new ones, so losing one of the 18,000 hurts. "Purifying the lines" is stupid if there is no one in line to replace them...and no one is.
