love what I see in that non-conference schedule right now. Plenty of games with TCU, UNT & Baylor and measuring sticks games with A$M and Michigan. I agree A&M will probably buy out of next year's game and substitute a home game against someone from the SunBelt, CUSA or FCS

and at least one youngster doesn't want anything to do with Baylor??? someone needs a history lesson and needs to be reminded the goal should STILL be to rejoin our neighbors in the Big XII

Not at all. It's not new to me. My husband who passed away played against Michigan. I could add more about it but there is no need to on a public board.

I have a lot of fun. I don't care who drinks beer so don't be so immature about it. At the Big House I'd be in the most expensive seating available anyway.

Sorry to hear about that.

Maybe for people that were in school before the Pony Express. But Baylor doesn't mean anything to us who graduated recently. TCU is our rival, and I can see us forming rivalries with Texas Tech and Ok. State if we were in the Big 12...just not Baylor. And possibly a UCF-SMU rivalry if we stay in the AAC.
Seems like you might be struggling with the definition of history.

This thread is entertaining and sad. We don't want to play Michigan b/c they are Big Ten. We have no history with Baylor. We need a FCS team. We need NT.

We should listen to ourselves and look in the mirror. Are we big time or not? If not, either cancel FB or start behaving better. We sound like entitled wanta be's.

Pony Up! for god sakes.

I like the idea of playing UM. I also like playing UNT for attendance purposes and an FCS team isn't the worst thing in the world. I'd prefer we play a local FCS team like SFA or SHSU that will bring some fans, though. We should always play TCU.

Bottom line- TCU and UNT every year. One other marquee game (Michigan, Baylor, Tech, etc) each year. And probably an FCS each year. Not the worst thing in the world if you ask me.

Michigan is a good choice - $$, Midwest alumni, & national exposure. Russ Potts, my fav AD used to say - OOC scheduling is One stretch, One easy and One Toss Up... By the way, App. State did okay in the "Big House"

I prefer TCU than Baylor...we have no history with Baylor...we always ran over Baylor in the Pony express years...why Baylor? Stay away from Baylor!
Please ... Do not show your lack of knowledge.

From 1980 to 1984 (five years), the winner of the SMU-BU game was the SWC champion.

From a marketing perspective the Baptists b Methodists angle sells. In 1979, the marketing dept. offered a $10k prize to the respective church group (baptist royal ambassadors v the Methodists' UMYF). The result was a sellout at Texas Stadium - 65,101.

Couldn't agree more. This is great news and is an important rematch because of the Ford Mustang connection (whether it is true or not it is a great story) in our football history.

There is no reason why we couldn't compete of we make the effort starting now. We will not be relevant in college football unless we play and compete with known powers. If we get used to playing only the bottom feeders of FBS, we become a bottom feeder - win or lose.

I remember that game well. We sat in traffic parking jam for over an hour, then got to a parking lot, and we were directed away b/c we did not have correct pass..my Daddy driving us, I was 12, yelled at parking attendant and we went home. Was very disappointed but, yes, it was a record attendance that I don't think the Cowboys ever exceeded. And it was a heckuva game, was glued to radio on every down.

Exciting games (and measuring stick games) every year in the next five...some of you guys are such 'ginas. Our hand-wringing over our schedule just shows what a joke SMU2B12 was and demonstrates why we need a passionate coach and agressive, forward-looking leadership over here, fast.
