SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

The active members and alumni did a great job (Hubba-Hubba). I am still very concerned that the AD staff doesn't get it. The M Band is hard core. No one is more radical than M Band. They invented Left-Right; Left-Right. Why the current seating is so limited to a small section is beyond me. M Band should have at least 75 seats to create CHAOS.

I thought they had the correct amount of space. The days of lounging around and 6 seats per band member need to be permanently over.
lets have a game where school is back in session with the student band and see what happens.
And I'd assume if there isn't room for the "whole" student band, these diehards would come to the game and sit with the other students. And if they are as loud as advertised then they will rub off on the rest of the student section. It's contagious.

THIS
Most BCS bands for Football are between 150-250 members, with gargantuan bands like UT having 300+ and taking an entire seating section.
It would help make ford look packed, and loud
Good point but somebody would need to PONY UP for 150-200 scholarships for a big time marching band. Maybe it is time for a new era Mustang Band. The Dreibrodt concept has endured for 55 years. He was, indeed, a trailblazer in gridiron entertainment. I imagine SMU could maintain the basic Dreibrodt roots (this should be preserved) with a band of 150. It's definitely a matter of SS and sense.
I thought the band had just the right amount of space and their selection and amount of appearances was just about right. I assume they will get to play a bit more at halftime in the games where we don't have the frisbee dogs (although as much as I enjoy hearing the band I'll choose the dogs every time).
Hopefully if there is overflow in members wanting to attend the game they are taken care of with student tickets without the hassle of getting "normal" student tickets.
While I love what a college band brings to the atmosphere, the mix between the band and DJ seemed about right. Having the DJ play the right songs during the right timeouts is crucial to keeping the flow going. Hopefully they can balance the split correctly in the future.

Well we are building a new Mustang Band hall, which will look amazing! I think that now is the time that we have to make the big strides and fundraising for the next level of SMU athletics...and Basketball has started leading us that way. Football needs to catch up and start kicking Arse and taking names.
