UCF could be a Top Ten team by the time we play them Dec. 7 (don't see them losing to USF or Rutgers), and we might be playing them for a shot at a bowl game, assuming we can win one of two against USF/Houston. We should promote the hell out of that game...when is the last time a Top Ten team played at Ford? 2010 TCU was up there, cant remember what they were ranked when they played us that year at Ford. Regardless, it doesn't happen very often.

Get all the youth groups, church groups, whatever groups out for that one. Students have exams, but I'd like to think some might be able to justify a three hour study break to watch the game against a highly ranked opponent.

It would've been really cool if UCF had beaten South Carolina (they lost 28-25) and were undefeated going into this game.

TCU was #4 when we played them in 2010. Ford had an overflow crowd for that one on a Friday night. UCF might be in the Top 10 at gametime but they're still an irrelevant team in this region so there won't be much of a walk-up crowd. No significant amount of their fanbase is likely to travel 1000 miles for this one when they'll already have the conference title and BCS bid locked up. Throw in likely weather problems (cold, overcast, windy, rainy) and we'll be fortunate to have 10K butts in seats for that game.

Sadly, I still can't see us drawing more than 10k for that one as our generally apathetic "fanbase" doesn't consider an SMU-UCF game to be worth their time no matter what. I would love to be proven wrong, but nothing in the last 10+ years gives me any hope for that.

We solidified ourselves as a joke over the past 3 decades with the population at large and that's going to take a long, long time to turn around.

UCF. Commuter school that 75% of everyone outside of the southeast does not know even exists.

I think 15k is closer to our real fan base at this moment. It's the true average, not counting Tech coming to visit.

Next year our avg attendance will be skewed (A&M and TCU play at Ford...probably around 30k people will come out of the woodwork)

That A&M game at Ford will not happen.

Who are we playing then? Some FCS team?

And what do you think other teams say about us when we come to town?

They say we never should've fired Jeff Bower and that its hard to believe Brett Favre was a qb here

Probably. Hopefully a local FCS team like Stephen F. Austin who will bring some fans of their own.

Stephen F. Austin is fun to have at Ford. Their fans are cool and they do show up. They're purple too so we can practice beating a team that wears purple before TCU comes to our house

Ha. This attendance thing is hard to figure. Two teams one with a losing record and one from the far northeast win no wins and people wonder why there is only 10k people there and everyone is watching the score board for the scores of the relevant team. Yeah I don't get why our stadium isn't packed and loud.

Get a grip people. Win some games against tech and TCU then let's talk about it.
