Re: UCF Game Sold Out
By any stretch - the season just got more difficult with this ranking & our away games.
Hopefully we'll win most of them but it ain't going to be easy.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Understood, but tell that to UT/USC/Mich, etc. fans who pay 5k for football season a 100k seat stadium. My only point is that we experienced a huge increase already this season for those in 'premium' level seating. Lots of people whined, especially because we paid for seats in Garland, but we understood that's the cost of the new arena/conference. Unless we win it all this year there is no reason to increase premium level prices. The increase should be for the casual goer who thought they could walk up and get in for $10.
I was told that the price will not go up significantly for the red seats unless we win the NC.

We will probably have almost all season tickets next year. So buy them or be sorry.
Yes, it's awesome. But it's also been 3/5 of one season. Hate to be a negative nancy, but let's win something first. I'm happy as clams with where we are at. I also increased my donation a [deleted] last year, as did many others.
I understand your position. I'm sure the last thing SMU wants to do is anger a super fan such as yourself. They're going to need to reconcile a vastly improved product, growing excitement, with a $5+ million annual hole, and crappy conference $. For 99.99% of us there is a price where we'll watch from home. My point is, we're below that point for the vast majority.

IMO a large part of that 5+million hole is due to the crappy product with the other revenue sport and the fact that the admin refused to make a coaching change to correct that situation. Our bball fans should not be penalized for that. I suspect that if not this year then next year our bball program (as a separate entity) will generate a positive cash flow for our AD.

They obviously can't charge more than market demand for bball tickets. That said, Hart has to use every arrow in his quiver to get the overall program in the black.
Regardless, let's enjoy the ride today and worry about the bill tomorrow.

All but something like 10 schools in e country lose money as an athletic department. I'm sure every university wants to be as close to the black as possible, but they are not as desperate to get there as you might think. Remember these are not for profit entities. Schools make the money back through enthusiasm and fostering a sense of pride that sports lead to. That in turns leads to increased donations to the school, better application stats , and increase stature in the community, which is well worth spending 5 million on.

Re: UCF Game Sold Out
I think the 200s will be where the season tickets go up quite significantly, and I expect many areas of the arena will require a minimum donation. When I started buying season tickets in the old blue section (now the red seats), a seat was $360 for the season and no mustang club donation was required. That was 2009/2010. Those seats are now $575, an increase of 60%, and they require $2500 in donations (for 4). If you make the most use of that and have 4 seats that is an additional $625 a seat, meaning that these tickets have increased in price over 230%, for me, having only three seats, it's gone up 290%.
Just thought a review of the facts might be a useful guide
I'm loving the season and the success thus far, and I realize that the bog programs have similar pricing structures, or worse, but we are only just arriving. I will be unimpressed if SMU comes looking for more next year (and I'll be having a summit meeting to justify the expense with the missus!)

I do agree, but percentage-wise even these were dramatically increased last year.

Teams can hide behind the new stadium. But now that it's built, they can't. They can't raise them anywhere near what they did, they'll lose a ton of faithful season ticket holders and turn a lot of people off.

gidyup- changed the wording so you couldn't beatch. Nobody is happier than I to see our bball success and I am looking forward to it continuing.
My point was simple- IMO it is not good to penalize the pricing of a good product to compensate for the lack of income in other areas.
