Meanwhile there is apparently no QB in Texas which June likes enough to offer despite the gaudy success of Texas QBs in recent years. Rinse and Repeat
Is there a QB rated as highly as this guy in TX we have a shot at?

I think it has proven (at least to me) the long given school of thought on this board that JJ recruits mostly via Tape. He offered a recruit (a good 4* one) without anyone from SMU having spoken to the kid. So the only way he evaluated him was through his film. Tape doesn't lie but I personally don't think thats the way to evaluate our best offer in a while. How are offers formally extended? I would think it would mean a lot more to a kid if a coach flew out to sit in your living room and offer you. Especially when it is your first offer ever, that would be a pretty special moment I think, regardless of where it was from vs. a phone call from a coach you had never talked to before.
I am excited we are at least trying to recruit a 4* though.

Are coaches allowed to be in kids' living rooms right now?

I think the concern is that June offered several high profile kids from Skyline last year but failed to follow up with them or their recruiting coordinator. Legitimate concern, we'll see how thing turn out.

Connor Preston is another Steve Clarkson prospect. Kolney Cassell is another FOJ prospect too.

looks pretty good to me. Good footwork in the pocket and touch on some of his throws. I hope we get him, looks better than most our depth chart right now

Accuracy looks good, fit the ball into a lot of tight spots. Touch on go routes also looked good.

Every head coach in America does this on Signing Day.

I don't believe I have heard June say that about any other QB we have signed. In fact, I don't believe I have heard any college head coach say that they would take a freshman QB in the first round.

The way I remember it, and it obviously isn't word for word, I thought the comments about Kaiser were typical Signing Day overhype but more along the lines of Kaiser having the ability to develop into a top NFL prospect. He certainly didn't say he was worthy of being a first-round pick then. IIFC, he is a tall kid who came out of high school with a reputation for being a very accurate passer.
That being said, JJ does have to be taken with a grain of salt. Every coach talks up the next opponent, and JJ always seems to find someone on the next opponent who is "the best QB we'll see this year" or "the best defensive line we'll play against." Politically, the head coach has to talk up opponents. That's just his style.
But that's ancient history and doesn't matter. Let's hope this kid realizes how great SMU and Dallas are.

Just to be clear I like the QB offer. The obvious next step is communication and effort.

Do everyone ignore the post about Isaiah Langley? Sounds like if kearns commits to us, we land two 4 stars, with one having an offer from seemingly every school in the country

Thanks East Coast; I just looked and he also has several SMU photos in the photo/video area to the left. Outstanding!
